    If you turn on the cec function on your pi and put on Anynet+ (on Samsung tv's) with auto power on, you can see if the TV turns on when you power your pi.

    I have a picade and struggled for a while, I finally figured out that the first column of numbers is in fact reserved for keyboard inputs "used in the dapinput.ini file, but first I had to figure out what the buttons being pushed were by the picade controls itself. I ran into this website. For me this is the defaults because I knew it wasn't smart to change anything: https://github.com/pimoroni/Picade-Sketch/blob/master/Picade/Picade.ino After that though I knew I still needed to know what the numbers were I had to put in the first column, so I found this site. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=114365.0 Using both of those sites allowed me to finally be able to use my picade controller. I had to change numbers in the first column to match what I wanted to assign and which key I wanted to press. Be patient as I know it is frustrating, but this method does work. I can't speak for picade controllers that attatch as USB, but if they are detected as Keyboards in emulationstation, then I am sure this will help.

  • Diffrent controller map for select emulation?

    @mitu said in Diffrent controller map for select emulation?:

    @nathan1031982 Looks like a case of https://xkcd.com/979/ - what was the solution ?

    The original solution was provided by the reddit user delusion666. I modified it because he was using RetroPie 3 and I am running the latest version as of a week ago.

    I configured my controller in EmulationStation. It created a controller config file in:

    /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/

    In my case, it was raphnet.net (S)NESAtari_USB.cfg

    Next, I created retroarch-joypads dir in the MegaDrive configs dir and copied the raphnet.net (S)NESAtari_USB.cfg to there:

    /opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/retroarch-joypads/raphnet.net (S)NESAtari_USB.cfg

    Finally, for retroarch to see the file, you need to add or change this line in /opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/retroarch.cfg :

    joypad_autoconfig_dir = "/opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/retroarch-joypads/"

    I commented out the original line and then added a new line above it for backup/troubleshooting purposes so my file like like this at the line :

    joypad_autoconfig_dir = "/opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/retroarch-joypads/"
    # Original line - joypad_autoconfig_dir = "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/"

    I had to do that for the MegaDrive, Sega 32X, and Sega CD. I don't think you need to make the file three times, probaly just need to make sure the path is correct. However the map file is real small so I made one for each system.

    Finally, I re-configured the SNES controller so if I load up anything with the SNES controller, it's mapped out correctly.
    Now if I load up either the MegaDrive, 32X, or Sega CD RetroArch uses the controller map for the Sega controller.
    I was lucky as the buttons for the D-Pad, A, and B didn't change with the SNES mapping so the Sega controller works the exact same in EmulationStation.

    Good luck. If you still need help, just ask and I will try to assist.

    Nobody got this issue? :/

    EDIT for PCSX2: all is ok. It works fine. Found how to do :D
    EDIT for PSX: can't find anything for this issue. And if tehre are 2 players, i have to do same change for all players, not only for the first one.
    Yet, when game is loading I can see Core remap file loaded. But doesn't use config in this file.

    @fabio78 glad it worked. It’s one of the first huge issues I ran into when I started to make more advanced changes.

    I've never had any sort of luck converting TO .pbp myself, fwiw. I think if you can get the proper file right out of the gate, you're much better off

    If it helps, I have been occasionally updating the WIKI page for Keyboard Controllers. This has not been "pretty-ified" and copied over into the main Docs menu like most of the other wikis. It is a work in progress that can help folks using an IPAC or other keyboard controller (or even GPIO) hit the ground running. Several of you have helped with the details. Check it out if yours is a controller that sends keystrokes.

    I see a lot of Zero Delay usage, maybe because they are abundant, inexpensive, and relatively easy to setup. However, I don't know much about them. If we have an expert on them, we should setup a wiki page for this controller too.

    I haven't ever run through this tutorial myself, but it looks as though you're meant to replace the "SERVER" from SERVER.ovpn with a server address of your choosing. The example in the tutorial uses ipvanish-SE-Stockholm-sto-a01.ovpn.

    Thank you for all the help, everyone. I managed to compress my entire collection into CHD files. Much cleaner, and much smaller space-wise. And, they all work...except for the Sega-CD 32x games (there's only three or four of those). I guess I have to do some more homework on that one.

    Not all my images were bin/cue. Getting them to be bin/cue so I could convert them to CHD was tedious and sometimes frustrating, but I got it done.

    Thanks again.

    Quick update.

    I went through and cleaned up some of my rom folders and deleted all game lists and downloaded images on my PI. ES scraped ones and sselphs. I ended up running sselphs and turned out pretty good. 1 snes was hack-link which I expected, zelda parallel worlds. Which from maybe my reddit post, hack-link is the default screenscrapper image when it can't find a image. Another system, forgetting now, had maybe 10. That one has good videos and images but the name was hack-link. Switched it and was good. Nes did have a good amount but did actually download correct images and video. I noticed that most were showing correct info but in the game list the <name> was hack-link. Changed it and was good, it was just the name display that was wrong for most.

    The ones left that didn't work and were fill the the psp hack-link name and info looked to be duplicates /versioned copies of a game. For instance super mario, super mario [a1], super mario [a2]. That might not be an exact example but a similar scenario. As I find them I'll fix them manually.

    Thanks a lot for all your help guys... in this case it was Apple at fault and I'm going to tell you how you can fix it.

    Apple in their infinite wisdom decided that people don't simply want quotes! Why have a quote when you can have a smart quote :). It's all well and good changing something like this although when you start working on config files which require the default quote, things will go very wrong fast!

    Id suggest that if you are using an Apple system and connecting through a server to make your changes and are facing issues like I mentioned, look very carefully at the quotes and see if they are different from the other untouched entries, if they are, simply follow this guide to change them back to normal:-

    https://derflounder.wordpress.com/2014/02/01/disabling-smart-quotes-in-mavericks/

    Thanks again guys so much for your help, sometimes it simply needs another set of eyes, I must have sunk in 10+ hours on this and must have looked at that config a thousand times although it never registered :D

    Glad my build is back on track :)

    @RetroFox

    It's possible to have Daphne exit with the combination you want by using an external mapping solution. I have all all my emulators exit using 'select+start' to match the RetroArch scheme. You can find a guide here tailored specifically to RetroPie. The learning curve is somewhat steep, so you'll want to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze.
