Sure, sorry. What I meant was the display that's not working, you want to make sure you are using a resolution that the display accepts.

Obviously it wasn't dmesg either, as my memory failed me. Here's a good tutorial, see the second section. If the monitor accepts that resolution it would show in the list.

@AlexMurphy got 3 using one for sound 1 for my chromcast and 1 for my ps4, so thats why i wanted to use my pi via the receiver

Start small. Just move over some ROMs that you think you'd want to play first. The basics are all covered in that link I gave you.

Try launching a game and then post the contents of /dev/shm/runcommand.log.

@ChristianG go to /opt/retropie/emulators/arcade/ and delete the file named mame.cfg

The restart, the mame.cfg file should be recreated. You will loose any setting you previously set up in the arcade folder.

Ok, I see what you mean. thank you.
Finding a ROM set with the IGT roms still in it is going to be next to impossible.
They work fine on the Windows version, so I should probably look for some sort of battery powered DOS machine?

Just in case anyone comes across this later this is what I did:

the "Load content specific core" option is enabled by default. Start your game, open the retroarch menu, then select Quick Menu > Options > Create Game options file. Exit the game. Once you do this a file should be generated in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/PCSX-ReARMed, or \retropie\configs\all\retroarch\config\PCSX-ReARMed on the network, called something.opt. Open this and set the plugin to disabled.
