@kok00 isn't it really a lot of effort for a cheap computer? If it was only a month old, why didn't you just get it replaced under warranty?

Here's the solution - at least in my case. Exit emulationstation to command line. Use the find file command : sudo find / -name default.cfg . It showed me the path of: home/pi/retropie/roms/arcade/mame2003/cfg. I then used 'file manager' in retropie menu in emulationstation to goto correct path and delete 'default.cfg'. I restarted emulationstation and was good to go......

Make sure you specified the correct path where you copied the images when you edit the game. Can you post the gamelist.xml file for the system where you added the images on pastbin.com ? We can check if there are any incorrect paths there.

    ok based on this schematics
    https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/schematics/rpi_SCH_3bplus_1p0_reduced.pdf

    i have found the culprit.

U8 chip leg 8 providing 3v3 volts to the board.
    this ic is blown.

    and if you check
    STATUS
    "ACT" LED
    or
STATUS_LED_G in shematics you will se it needs 3v3 and comes from 3v3 line.
since 3v3 is blown or low voltage it will not boot.

Ressurecting this topic because I noticed that after I upgraded to RPi 4.5 that the speed cheat in Ms pac-man stopped working altogether. I checked the inputs on the TAB menu and button B isn't listed there. There are no dipswitch settings for it, either. I am curious if this is a driver change or if it's something that got broken in the update?

Dolphin bar help setup. controller setup

I recently installed a dolphin bar and wi-mote and cannot get it to work in combination with Name lightgun games. The bar is seen by the PI as well as my 2 joysticks and a keyboard. It seems that I can use the "Dpad" on the Wii mote and will move the target sight within the games, however i cannot get the pointer to move when moving the remote.

I have the dolphin bar set on mode 1 and the wii has two lights side-by-side on them and have tried different modes to try and get it working. I also changed the mouse input index on player 3 and player 4, to "0" and "1" they were all set to zero previous. These are the 2 inputs that i have both the wi-mote and keyboard, i did this within the retoarch.cfg file (not sure that's the correct file for Mame).

any help is appreciated on this subject, seems to me that there is a conflict between the keyboard and mouse being on the same index, however when I change them to "0" and "1" i seem to get the same result, to be able to only use the Dpad. all the other buttons seem to respond. thanks for all the help once again.

@drylightn I just tested it myself and what I suggested is still correct. And you should be able to skip with any button on the controller, but that's isn't too important - that you can skip is.

Once you have configured every other controller but before you confirm the controls at the very bottom, use the D pad to move back up to the triggers. Then try to assign the trigger buttons, ensuring that they are set to +AXIS (Mine shows up as 2 and 5 for left and right triggers respectively).

@TheRetroGamer They're poorly made. I bought a pair for $8US and noticed they used thin wires for the L/R buttons when I was modding one by replacing the shell and buttons from a real snes pad. Re-soldering using the same wires made them give ghost inputs or not work. I replaced them with thicker wires and seems to work for now.

A long term solution would be buying a real super famicom or snes pad and then using a usb adapter. I don't have a usb adapter to tell you which ones work on retropie.

Do you have two controllers connected? If so are you sure you are using what the emulator is considering to be player 1? If you are then it should exit with the SELECT+START exit method on all games. If you do have two controllers connected, disconnect one of them before going into the emulator and see what happens.

To be honest, you should be using an Xbox or PSX type controller on the N64 for better control in game anyway.

I can't remember any settings for 'wallpaper' in RetroPie - are your referring to the splashscreen or the Emulationstation theme ?

I am talking into the void at this point on this thread but I did find a solution for this for anyone searching the interweb in the future like I was. I end arounded this "joystick 1" problem with hardware. I purchased an additional USB controller board ($10) and configured it as well. Once I determined which board advmame assigned to J1 I just moved the joystick wiring to the other board that was assigned J3 then remapped in the Tab menu to those controls. I now technically have 3 controllers but only 2 actual functional controllers on the arcade control panel itself. I would guess there is a software way to fix this but it was way easier to eat $10 and save the time and hassle of troubleshooting and hours of reading config files with no actual knowledge :)

@mitu Ah, that scuppers those plans then. I think I'll give this up as a failed experiment. I did manage to get Kodi to launch from my green button by importing psutil and check_output and changing the code to

    espid = int(check_output(["pidof","-s","emulationstation"])) es = psutil.Process(espid) es.suspend() Kodi = subprocess.Popen("/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/Kodi.sh") Kodi.wait es.resume()

But then the script would no longer start from my crontab on boot so not really usable.

    Take a look at

demonstrating how to map 2 4way joysticks to tank controls - including the Atari Battle zone. IMHO as long as you simulate 2 joysticks, you'll be able to map them in MAME to the tank controls.
