I have experienced the same issue in RetroPie 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3: the the *.srm file gets created when doing an in-game save, but the game can't seem to find the save file when you go to load your saved progress. I have tried various BIOS files, unfortunately without success.

@herb_fargus Yeah, I figured it out later.
I thought the hotkey was a specific button to quit que games.

@mrkane If you don't follow the forum's rules, then - yes - this will result in a ban. It's not that difficult to understand.

As far as your problem - your system doesn't seem to be connected to the internet. How did you configure your RPI for network access ? Assuming you're talking about WiFI, then read https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Wifi/ and perform the steps listed there to get your PI connected to the internet.

That worked! I just need to see how I can bind the spacebar to another button on my DragonRise USB controllers, or and the second fire button, for example I couldn't get the second weapon to activate in Chaos Engine. Can't believe how well it runs on a Pi.

@flyingtomahawk I’ll admit I did some searching to look into where save points were in the game since I am not very good at Castlevania and I didn’t know where FDS would ask you to save. I’m glad the issue is resolved.

@brad2600 no i think they should be. But its a bit of a process to do it. I wont be back home until monday to get on my computer, but i will try to remember to post on how to do it. You have to make a config for each game so it takes a little work to do.

Thanks again.. i was working within emulation station to make sure things worked before bothering with attract mode.. but i did an update from binary and it seems my problem was fixed. Never woulda thought it woulda been a corrupt install from the start. That fixed a huge issue for me, and i shall now move on to the next. Thank you for your help. I build mame machines all the time so i understand the mechanics of mame and emulators, but using pi hardware introduces some curveballs.thank you again

Just wanted to share, that I had issues where I couldn't change default emulator for a specific rom. It just kept being set to something and wouldn't change.

Editing the file opt/retropie/configs/all/emulators.cfg showed several lines of corrupt data. Removing these let me change the default emulator again.

@herb_fargus - I'd say based on the work you do in the forums alone thank you is well warranted. I just discovered video previews from the Selph scraper and I feel like I've entered an alternate universe where I am millionaire
