In N64 emulator i went in the Retroarch quick menu and i noticed that in port 1 controls B button and Y button are both button 3, same A and X both button 1... (see photo attached)

Actually, the B/Y buttons are not mapped at all - the right side (which shows the emulated system's mapping) is empty. How did you configure the gamepad ?

Try updating RetroPie and the OS/packages to the latest version and re-try the pairing via Bluetooth.

I've installed the retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi2_3.img available on your download page here, add the rom and... no more controls issue! :-) Damn! I spent days on this issue... and it was so easy :-)

Well, I got the same idea. My objective was to start a mame game (Star Wars) automatically.

After spending some time to set up this, I wanted to share the solution to complete the explanation available of the Retropie FAQ.

So here's the content of my autostart.sh file :

pi@nunopi:/opt/retropie/configs/all $ more autostart.sh /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ "mame-libretro" "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/starwars.zip"

It works as expected! Quite easy with an example now :-)

@mitu I updated when I saw your message here, 5 minutes before I posted my reply here. It took a while updating, but my controller doesn't work neither in my PC or raspberry :/

@iandaemon Not exactly. An arcade cocktail table and I installed dual monitors in them with a Raspberry Pi 4. My plan B is to use a VGA or HDMI splitter but I'd like to see if can be done with the dual HDMI outputs already available on the Raspberry Pi 4. Any ideas?

@protocultor I already installed joycond and everything it says from the retropie docs, I'm still having issues

Not sure if there's such a thing as a 'palette' for an analog signal, but no, have no idea. You may want to ask in the raspberrypi.org/forum forum and provide some pictures.

EmulationStation uses libSDL's joystick subsystem to recognize and work with joystick devices, maybe your device is not detected by libSDL as a gamepad/joystick.
In addition to jstest/evtest, install jstest-sdl2 (from https://github.com/Grumbel/sdl-jstest) and see if your device is working with it.
