ok so i found one wery tidies way to delate marquees. go to file manager-home-pi-Retropie-roms-then select emulator for example atari2600-then click on images- then delate evary marquees file. when i scrape the system again the marquees do not get reinstalled

@Lazzarous_84 You can't make the ps3 driver work for an Xbox compatible controller. How is the controller detected ? As a PS3 controller or as an XBox controller ?

@garfee If you are using lr-fuse, then it is possible to map key presses to a joypad in the RGUI. More info at: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/ZX-Spectrum/#joypad-to-keyboard-mapping

@Aplam Unless you're using a Pi Zero or PI 1, there's no reason to use PiFBA. Use lr-fbalpha and you'll get the RetroArch configuration menus (and auto-configuration from Emulationstation if you configured there the controller(s)). Make sure you use the proper ROM set for the lr-fbalpha version.
To answer to your question - no, there is not an easier way to configure PiFBA, mostly because it's an old and unmaintained FBA version and has very little use given that lr-fbalpha is also available.

@dudleydes Yes, best way for me to proceed is to remove all of the ADF files and replace them with WHDLoads. I experimented yesterday with some new WHDLoad games I found; they all work well. Very nice to see that no disk swapping is needed anymore when playing multi-disk games! That is really nice. Here and there I needed to tweak my controller settings a bit, but that was all easy to solve.

@John_RM_70 Try one command at a time and see which ones locks up the Pi. It's probably tvservice, but it could be because of the previous command, which specifies might specify an invalid mode.
Have you tried tvservice -p (preferred mode) ?

My first instinct was to ask you to check if you're connected to the internet, but you said you updated so I figured out you don't have this problem.
Glad you figured it out.

Use ssh and filezilla, you'll do 99% of what you need with these tools...
Configure wifi on the pi, activate ssh and that's all you need.

Yeah, the onboard BT of the rpi3b is total crap. I didn't test it but i heard onboard BT is better on rpi3b+

@ChristianG Great Question. The truth is there is no good way to ground this unit, and I am not sure I would try. It kind of blows my mind that you were even able to blow the unit via a static shock. I mean yes I know it is possible. All of my teachers 20+ years ago warned me about it. That being said I have been in the low voltage industry all my adult life, and I have never seen anyone in real live blow a unit via static. I did not design the joystick board and I would have to look at it's specs, cut sheets, and wiring diagram to show you how, but you should be able to by grounding the main negative at the board. But do this at your own risk....
