Is there any way to use the bezels from the Bezel Project in standalone emulators (outside of RetroArch)?

@mitu Strange that it doesn’t work outside of RetroArch… In Batocera (PC), it is possible to use bezels in standalone emulators.

There may be programs that can do that, but they're not included in RetroPie and may not work on a Pi/SBC.

@steeluth said in Retropie ES config 3B+:

Following the guide I first installed the Bookworm from here > Raspberry Pi OS with desktop and recommended software and then retropie on top using image files provided and all went well.

You basically re-wrote the RetroPie image on the sdcard, over the newer RaspiOS image that you installed initially - while you may have the latest RetroPie version, you're still using an older version of RaspiOS (based on Debian buster).

The RetroPie image is using by default the pi user to operate, if you're using a different username, the installed front-end and emulators will not work. I advise you to re-flash the RetroPie image from the download page for your Pi model and boot it up, then continue from there. The system should reboot on the 1st start and then it will start automatically with EmulationStation.

If you want to use a newer RaspiOS, then you can install the Lite version and manually install RetroPie as described in the docs.

Do I have to manually do this for every emulator?

Yes, the configuration needs to be done for each emulator, the first time you start a game with it.

Did you try to ask the vendor if they have Linux support ? Is the controller you have the Brawler64 BT NSO Edition - the one that's created for the Switch ?

Please also add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

See this forum post for running games directly from a physical media. I don't think lr-pcsx-rearmed supports physical media though, for PS1 you need the Mednafen PSX core.
As far as Gamecube/PS2, I don't think the emulators in RetroPie (Dolphin/PCSX2) support reading the game from physical media.

      @jayuni100 see here:

      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-would-i-start-from-command-line-say-the-snes-emulator-by-itself

/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ "<SYSTEM>" "<ROM>" To automatically start a specific system and a game directly instead of EmulationStation, you need to edit /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh and add the above line (again replacing the variables with your own values). Then, in the same file, remove any line containing #auto entirely to avoid EmulationStation or KODI to autostart again.

@Jezzer said in Compiling drivers for Deskpi:

I tried to install cmake from buildessentials but it appears that you need buster / bookworm / whatever it's called. I wasn't sure what I should be installing here... Anyone know how to do this?

cmake is already installed on the RetroPie image for the Pi4 and the buildessential metapackage is installed aswell, so compiling shoudn't be an issue. Did you try compiling and got an error - if so, can you post the actual error message here so that we can help fix it ? Do you have a link to the instructions/documentation of the drivers where the installation/compilation is explained ?

@Didyman said in Large File in .git Folder on RetroPie. Is it safe to delete?:

... but after I indeed updated assets and shaders in RetroArch, but as far as I am concerned, those are .zip files that are then extracted.

Shaders and assets for RetroArch are also handled by RetroPie and they don't need to be updated from RetroArch's menu.

Did you copy the config folder from another installation ? I think a long time ago (not sure how far) the assets folder was cloned from https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-assets.git, but that's been changed and only a minimal set of assets for RetroArch are downloaded and installed by RetroPie.

I did a backup of the configs folder, but I didn't copy it back. I keep it as a reference point. I didn't want to "corrupt" the configs as they were coming from an old build (Stretch). I did copy the the bios and roms folders from my backup tho.

My question... Is it possible to do a similar thing for retropie?

Not without creating a new game, which is what Nintendo did.
