Hi there, first day testing dosbox-pure and looks very promising! One question (or bug reporting) regarding controller: in the retroarch menu, settings, hotkey binds, I have put for on-screen-keyb the key 1 (by default 2 is for the menu and 3 is for the restart), but when I use the combination hotkey+1 the os-keyb does not appear. My gamepad doesn't have L3 so I need a solution like that - thanks and keep up the great work!

the verbose log would have indicated all relevant overrides, and in addition to that the relevant configs are
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg,

/opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/retroarch.cfg or
/opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg depending on where your roms are
and for fbeo,
/opt/retropie/configs/fba/retroarch.cfg or
/opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg depending on where your roms are

anything changed within the MAME menu is stored in additional non-human readable files detailed here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/lr-mame2003/#mame-menu and should be deleted before investigating any retroarch-side config issues.

@goestohollywood This is specifically Skyscraper at default settings.

@roadhog i believe the ^[[D or ^[[C spam occurs when you press controller buttons/keyboard whilst I compile is in progress. it's harmless but i would just leave the system well alone, unless you want to cancel (then ctrl+c).

EmulationStation's setttings are saved in $HOME/.emulationstation/es_settings.cfg.

@jorgejohnson72 You can exit EmulationStation (from the Quit menu) and run, from the command line:

sudo apt install p7zip

Go back to EmulationStation by typing emulationstation.

@buzz Here is a link to the script on github. It currently puts the export command in .bashrc, but I tested it on my machine by putting it in /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh with no luck of the script launched by emulationstation detecting the variable. The programming is in function RAM_PIBOY_CHECK.

that's right. this function is intended to rotate the GAME, not the whole session. it is working as intended. it looks like there's an outstanding issue to rotate the whole lot outside of X, that you could follow here: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/6770

unfortunately the ability to rotate the entire session outside of X does not exist for pi4, as far as i know.

I found the solution, so I'm posting it here for anyone else that runs into this problem. This solution is for for those using a Dell 2007fpb monitor, and the Retropie install from ArcadeModUp.

#1 Don't bother trying to use an HDMI -> DVI adapter, some monitors will immediately enter Power Save mode no matter what you do. Use an HDMI -> VGA adapter instead and save yourself the trouble.

#2 You need to set the correct resolution on boot.

Connect a USB keyboard to the Raspberry Pi and press F4 to enter the linux shell. Type:

cd /boot
sudo nano config.txt

Find & change these 2 lines to:

hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=51

Hit Ctrl-X, and Y to save the file.

#3 The Dell 2007fpb monitor will ONLY work with 1600x1200 resolution. Since there is no reason to support any other resolution just edit your global retroarch.cfg file and set it there for everything.

Here's how:

Connect a USB keyboard to the Raspberry Pi and press F4 to enter the linux shell. Type:

cd /opt/retropie/configs/all
sudo nano retroarch.cfg

Scroll down and find these 2 lines:

video_fullscreen_x = "0"
video_fullscreen_y = "0"

Change them to:

video_fullscreen_x = "1600"
video_fullscreen_y = "1200"

Hit Ctrl-X, and Y to save the file.

Everything should work now just as well as it did before you replaced your monitor!

It should have added it when you updated your patched lr-nestopia.
