There is a new version of ppsspp (v1.13.2), RetroPie is using the v1.12.3. I haven't test this, maybe it have better performance. If you want to test it, you have to modify the ppsspp.sh file and build it from source(it takes 2+hours).

@smartgenes Solved. I thought I was up to date but just updating the packages solved both issues.

One issue though is full screen, how can I switch from windowed mode?

@mitu Thank you. After some more research I finally was able to resolve the issue. It worked with Mame2010 but controller needed to be configured from Retroarch's light gun option(Select+A) inside game and Dolphin bar needed to be set to Mouse option. Everything working fine now! :D

Some ps1 games are a crashfest on pcsx_rearmed but mostly fixed when using duckstation or swanstation.

@bbilford83 said in Yabasanshiro exit game:

@shavecat OK great. That I think I can help with. Go to \retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\ and you will see an es_input.cfg file as well as an es_temporary.cfg file. If you open up the former, you'll see a list of all the controllers your setup currently will recognize and their mapping. Each one will be introduced with a line that looks something like this: " <inputConfig type="joystick" deviceName="8BitDo SN30 Pro+" deviceGUID="05000000c82d00000261000000010000">." Now open the temporary one, and you will see it will only list one controller. Replace whatever is in there now with the correct controller info from es_input.cfg, then save.

At least for me, that fixes the emulator mapping in yabasanshiro so I can exit again, but I've had to do it again anytime I connect a different controller to my pi.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

@GadjeT7 @robbie @mitu There's Amiberry for Amiga on Retropie but strangely enough it's not working for me now, it gets stuck on launch. Don't know if there are current issues like with Vice?

Edit: my bad, just needed to rename the kickstarter roms and all is fine with Amiberry. Give it a twirl!

Wanted to close this off after I thought about how I wanted to organize this.

    Here's what I've done.

I converted all the .bin files into .chd files to save on a little bit of space all around. In roms/psx/ I created a hidden .chd folder where I have subfolders for each game and their respective .chd or .CDX files. In roms/psx/ I have a several .m3u files, one for each game, that each point to the .chd directory, and the individual game folder where the relevant game files are located. This allows me to keep the roms/psx/ relatively clean which is what I was going for.

I really appreciate everyone's help in getting me to clean up the roms directory!

@GadjeT7 Please don't bump very old topics. If you have an issue with Vice, then please open up a new topic and describe your issue, adding the info asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@TCM said in How can I add a game to Emulationstation?:

So I can only play the game from Raspbian/Raspberry OS and not through Retropie OS?

Using flatpak, yes. But since flatpak is just a runtime container, the game doesn't depend on it and there should be a method to install it natively on RaspiOS without the need for flatpak.

@slaan1974 said in Controller setup for GameCube in dolphin:

@YFZdude Hi, So I got this piece of software running,

select Controllers , select GC standard controller, press configure, select XInput2/0/Virtual core pointer, press all the individual buttons, they do react

select Emulate Wii BT, Emulated Wii, Config, select XInput2/0/Virtual core pointer, press all the individual buttons, they do react , i save this as profile sln

the buttons do react, and i saved it, but still i am not able to press buttons in a GC or Wiiware game

It sounds like you are doing the setup properly. You can confirm your controller settings have 'stuck' by re-opening the GUI and looking at the screens.

When you launch a game, does the runcommand box (grey with text) say it is launching with dolphin-gui ? That's how I run it so it may be necessary.

I haven't configured an emulated wii remote before but I did previously use a Logitech F710 as a gamecube controller and as long as the input is selected to match your device it should work. Double check that part. On my system, the Xinput2/0/Virtual core pointer is my keyboard and touchpad combo I think. I can try to verify that later tonight when I am in front of my system again.

EDIT: I just checked my setup at work that I forgot I had access to. Indeed on this system I have Xinput2/0/Virtual core pointer (keyboard and mouse) and evdev/0/Logitech Gamepad F310 (controller).

to add to the story i use a Wii Pro Controller

Is this the same controller you use with other emulators and it works fine?

Another couple of things you can try:

When you launch the Dolphin GUI, you can set (add) a ROMs directory and the games should show in the list on the main GUI page. Try launching a game directly from the emulator itself instead of through RetroPie and verify if the controller works this way. If that still doesn't work, try launching the Dolpin GUI with the sudo command in front of it and trying again. If the controller works this way, then you will need to add a udev rule to allow the emulator to have proper access to the controller.

on all other emulations i notice there is a bar in the bottom when a game starts this tells me the controller is enabled, but with GC/Wii there is no bar

The bar with the controller information is most likely a RetroArch notification. This would be present in any emulator whose name starts with lr-* which indicates the libretro version of the emulator. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are running the standard version of dolpin and not lr-dolphin. So those messages wouldn't appear the same way.

Things get more difficult if you don't read the wiki or if you don't provide the important information about the system where the problem exists.
I made the same mistake the first time I tried RetroPie , I found it all very complicated, but they wasn't.

FBNeo-SMS gets closest - the game starts but the controls are totally wonky. Right and left are back to front and you can't move into the left-hand half of the screen.

The arcade version works properly in FBNeo, i don't know about the sms version (probably nobody tried it), i'll try to take a look soon.

I'm working to change the video settings in retroarch to best fit to the bezelproject artwork. I have about 400 games in MAME 2010 and had them all working fine then something happened and now, like others, I get the "Failed saving config to "/opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/retroarch.cfg" error message.

I've tried deleting the retroarch.cfg file
    I've checked permissions and they're pi:pi

I've tried the suggestions listed here and it seems like most of the suggestions here, and over at the retroarch discord are just "try this and cross your fingers."

Surely someone knows what's going on and how to fix it.

pi model: 3b+, 128gb micro sd
    power supply: 5.1v 3a
    RetroPie version: 4.8
    Built from: scratch
USB devices connected: Ultimarc I-PAC Ultimate I/O
Controller used: Ultimarc I-PAC set to keyboard emulation
Error messages received: Failed saving config to "/opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/retroarch.cfg
    File: retroarch
    Emulator: mame 2010
