    TLDR; -- map your USB encoder to match USB console pads

    REYANN ENCODER appears to work best as
    0:B, 1:A, 2:R1, 3:Y, 4:X, 5: L1, 6: L2, 7:R2, 8:SELECT, 9: START

    Did some more work with this. The joysticks work great when (when mapping of multiple are the same - as discussed). There was an issue where I started to need to remap per system if I was using USB console-like controllers.

    It started out to be fine, then started to become a pain - especially once I found and started to use this GEM by @meleu
    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/740/having-more-than-one-player-1/18

    Since one set was remap, and the other wasnt, the graceful fallback didnt work.

    I rewired the USB encoder pins and its all working great. PIN:BUTTON layout at the top. LOVE I

    If it's a generic USB Xbox clone, then it should be handled by the xpad driver. Can you run - from the command line - cat /proc/bus/input/devices and then post the output ?

    Thank you @mitu

    That worked, I needed to throw in a --disable-x11 too:

    CFLAGS="-O2 -march=armv8-a+crc -mtune=cortex-a72 -mfpu=neon-fp-armv8 -mfloat-abi=hard -ftree-vectorize -funsafe-math-optimizations" ./configure --prefix=/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch --disable-sdl --enable-sdl2 --disable-oss --disable-al --disable-jack --disable-qt --disable-pulse --enable-opengles --disable-videocore --disable-vulkan --disable-wayland --enable-kms --enable-egl --enable-floathard --enable-neon --disable-x11

    I may have got rid of the --prefix bit, I can't quite remember now.

    Appreciate the help.

    TLDR;

    Works; Is awesome; Fallbacks to default/dedicated gamepads; [Con] appears to honor the custom system kep-remaps which (in my case) dont align for the dedicated USB encoder, but are correct for the gamepads.**

    2019-NOV convo on this tool:
    https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/issues/31

    ** Solution may be to adjustmy USB encoder to align 1:1 with gamepads

    @Metatron When you run the rom go into retro arch menu/ options/overlays then manually select the game bezel folder/relevant system for rom and select the bezel for the game you are running. This is caused by not having the rom names saved in a conformed way. I had this problem with my psx ROMs the other day.

    Forgot to mention make sure save configuration on exit is on.

    @muldjord said in Skyscraper: problem with re-naming rom names without bracket info:

    Do you perhaps sometimes run Skyscraper from command-line and sometimes from the RetroPie script? And do you then maybe have two different versions?

    Maybe I misunderstood and by two versions you meant two different scrapes for a system instead two versions of Skyscraper?
    In this case I'm pretty sure I only used Skyscraper from terminal for CPS systems as those were the only ones that originally didn't scrape from RP-script.

    lr-atari800 issues are almost always challenges with quirks of the original hardware, especially the fact that there are many versions. This is where all the things like cart autodetect for 5200, dealing with alternate versions of the OS, dealing with BASIC or not, etc, all come from. You actually run into many of these on the actual original hardware too (the infamous "Translator disk" for example).

    Basic stuff like controls is now pretty sorted, as of last year, except for the 5200's analog stick in a small handful of games.

    This isn't to say that there aren't some emu issues -- there definitely are, especially with the slightly older version of the mu that Retroarch uses.

    Things like Atari 5200 cart autodetect don't work reliably because the person who coded it originally tied the autodetect table to filename, for example. But given that there are many alternate dumps of ROMs with and without headers, even a checksoum solution would need to be pretty extensive.

    I strongly suggest people who are interested in Atari 8 bit emulation take a look at the guides in my signature, and in particular use the script I wrote. It makes most everything pretty seamless on the computers, and walks you through building a 5200 library that just loads without fiddling with anything.

    I don't know how to add the [Solved] tag to the thread

    Just click on the tree vertical dots at the right of your first post, choose "edit" and put a "[Solved]" before the title manually.

    @rseod Exit Emulationstation (either press F4 on the keyboard or use the menu to exit) and look at the message shown on the screen - it should show how much disc space you have available (%). If your free disc space is less than 5%, then you might have a problem and you need to free up some space.

  • RetroArch/Emulator Specific Per Game Settings?

    @dankcushions

    Thanks for the response.

    Dumb of me. I already have many of the game specific RetroArch configs on MAME for overlays.

    In my personal experience, the per game core saves haven't worked for a while. This goes for my 3B+ and my 4B. Would you mind checking to see that it works? In my experience it defaults to whatever options I used in the core last, regardless of whether there is a game save. Remaps work for me, but core options haven't for some time.

    May be because my roms are all on a USB? Not sure.

    I just tried one and when I booted up the rom, it saved over my core settings with the last settings I used.

    mupen64plus-next-pak4 = "memory" --> mupen64plus-next-pak4 = "none"

    I've tried using PS1 (lr-pcsx-rearmed) roms as well depending on whether the speed hack and increased res options are viable/necessary or controller needs set to analog.

    Is this by chance something you (or someone else) would be willing to test quickly? Thanks.

    Looks like an error starting it, can you post the /dev/shm/runcomand.log file contents ?
    Also, please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

    RetroPie doesn't include any bezels, so how did you install the bezels ?

    @sirhenrythe5th said in How to disable 'continue' game - 1942, 1944, 19xx:

    i itried it yesterday and it seems to work.
    I deleted the entry in "Insert Coin Player2".
    So if i want to play with a friend i just insert 2 coins with my Player-1 Pad or Arcade-Stick.

    On the Display the following message appears: "Press 1 or 2 Player Start".
    If you press the 2nd Player-Start-Button both players are in the game.
    But as only Player1 can insert coins the 2nd Player cannot continue ;)

    @sirhenrythe5th I like the way you think. I am going to try this.

  • Help with a big mistake I made please! Reinstalling maybe?

    Here is the thread where I found which menu buttons to add to the config file: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/8957/retroarch-rgui-menu-buttons-not-working/28

    and to save anyone the time scrolling through the entire thread, its in the last few replies. Once I added those lines to the config file (and assigned them and the menu up/down buttons accordingly) I was then able to map the controls through the RGUI menu settings.
