Hi, you can configure a standard keyboard to make EmulationStation not ask you for a controller on start-up, even if the keyboard not present. You can accomplish this in two ways (any of which only needed once):

Connect a standard USB keyboard and configure it in ES like any other controller.

If you are proficient with accesing the config files (SSH, Samba) and don't have a keyboard at hand, you can add the following snippet to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_input.cfg to add a keyboard with standard mappings:

    <inputConfig type="keyboard" deviceName="Keyboard" deviceGUID="-1"> <input name="pageup" type="key" id="113" value="1"/> <input name="start" type="key" id="13" value="1"/> <input name="down" type="key" id="1073741905" value="1"/> <input name="pagedown" type="key" id="119" value="1"/> <input name="right" type="key" id="1073741903" value="1"/> <input name="select" type="key" id="1073742053" value="1"/> <input name="left" type="key" id="1073741904" value="1"/> <input name="up" type="key" id="1073741906" value="1"/> <input name="a" type="key" id="115" value="1"/> <input name="b" type="key" id="120" value="1"/> <input name="x" type="key" id="97" value="1"/> <input name="y" type="key" id="122" value="1"/> </inputConfig>

This snippet has to be added between existing <inputList> and </inputList> tags.

An added benefit of configuring a keyboard is that if you don't have any controllers handy you can always plug a keyboard and control ES with it. Good luck!

@mediamogul said in How to use multiple emulators with same system:

It could just be an issue with your timing in activating the Runcommand menu. Once images are added, the timing changes a bit. The menu can't be accessed while an image is up, but it can be within a few seconds after the image disappears. It's a known issue and mentioned in the docs.

    Ahh! That's exactly it! Thanks!!!!

You know, on first glance I thought there were multiple required files in each primary folder, but it looks like there are only identical .bin and .cue files for each game. Since they are not being recognized as duplicates anyway, there should be no issue moving them up a directory. Thanks for the help!

It looks like I've solved my own problem.

I found some older threads that mention changing the memory split in raspi-config advanced options. By default, mine was set to 256. I changed it to 512 and everything works flawlessly now. I've rebooted the system multiple times to make sure it wasn't a fluke and everything is still running great after a couple of hours.

@mitu You really need to edit the list and add video tag for every game? You can't just say "all my videos are in /roms/snes/snaps/$name.mp4 ?

ok this feature has been implemented as a core option. Its setup for real arcade joysticks its the last option in the options menu. Please let me know how any of you get on with it. With controllers and arcade joysticks. All you need to do is update from source

@misterkilgore Bluetooth has nothing to do with WIFI. That's how you ssh with WIFI. Maybe a problem with your router or network ?

@jackiehanna dude, that PSU won't be giving your Pi enough juice. It's just a phone charger.

Edit- I've just realised I've already commented on another of your posts where you were having HDMI issues and you posted that you were using the same charger.

Go and but a new power supply, preferably the official Pi charger. You'll find most of these issues are down that and that alone.

@ultranano has this been fixed? I also have a DragonRise Joystick and up and down is inverted. I cannot switch the up down wires without desoldering the connector. It's just a hassle...

Is there another way to invert the axis?
I read somewhere changing from JA_LR_1=0 to JA_LR_1=-0 but this didn't work.

    Life saver!

I did a RetroPie update through install script (to update all packages).
    That fixed my problem.

All of my questions are dependable on what type of software i wrote?

If it's software that includes links to roms or downloaders for them we obviously don't condone it because it will do nothing but damage the project and earn you a nice ban. But there are plenty of web/theme managers scattered throughout the forum so if it's similar to those I don't see an issue with sharing it with the community

No...the software does not contain any illegal stuff. I would never do anything to hurt RetroPie and it´s community.

    Thanks for your answer.
