@stoo I was wondering are you able to change the controller format for the ps3 controls to work with sdl 2? Because when I use the ps3 I have to use the select button as my button to click with instead of x.

@Henadarr RetroPie isn't in Chinese by default. They included a modified RetroPie which we can't support (it's also against the licenses of software included in RetroPie to distribute it with a commercial product).

I had issue many moons ago and replaced the hiscore.dat file with the one at the link below. I never tested 2016 though. It looks like the .dat file isn't needed anymore as each game has a .hi file saved in the roms/arcade/mame2003/hi directory. Maybe 2016 is the same path (up to the mame2003 part anyway).

@stoney66 it looks like my mame2003 games are saving but not mame2016. There was not a hi file in 2016 so I created one with no luck.

I have already downloaded highscore.dat and tried it in several locations but none work. I just need to know where to place that file then maybe it will work. Or at least it would be nice if someone can confirm high score saving in mame2016.

@ciderman As a workaround, you could make a dedicated control panel and wire the microswitches of its second stick to the connectors for the respective buttons of the first stick.

Specifically the advanced controller framework section will help a lot to configure emulators (like psx) that normally would require more buttons than the GPi case has. Also check out the link to the GPi discord server at the bottom of that page, it's a nice place to hang out and meet other GPi users, if you have GPi related questions.

Now if you or someone can tell me how to save high scores in mame2016 it will be awesome! I just don't know where the files should go.

You got an answer on how to set-up your keys in Emulationstation - did you try applying the steps there to configure your controller ?

Another question: can I switch of the emulator type display in favourites, that thing in brackets:
MOON PATROL [MAME-LIBRETRO]

I think this should be possible for custom collections, though your version of Emulationstation is a bit old for that. How did you install RetroPie ?

@mitu the proper setting is video_rotation = 1, anyway now it appears rotated, I had to change the aspect ratio to fix it.

Try going into the RetroPie Setup Script again and removing then re-installing your MAME emulators. Also do the same with the Runcommand.

You can use a simple python script to catch GPIO input presses and translate them to volume change commands. Here is an example on how to do that - https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=222763.

@benret Raspbian Jessie is no longer supported - I think you get a nice message about that when you try to run the RetroPie-Setup script.

Installation on Buster hasn't been 100% vetted, but most bits should work - support for it will probably be part of the RetroPie release that supports the Pi4.

For now, using Raspbian Stretch will give you the best supported Raspbian version for RetroPie.

RetroPie though uses Raspbian Lite underneath, with very little changes added to the system. As far as wireless/networking goes, there's literally no change from a stock Raspbian Lite installation.

In ES You can press select and edit the game's metadata. Then at the bottom there is a button for scraping.

@jediknight36 Replace the power supply. I've had a $5 chinese power supply for my pi2 give me the lightning bolt like 1-2years later. Opening it up, they used very thin wires that just gave out from the thinness and poor solder job. Replaced them with thicker ones and all's good. Zero issues with my official pi power supplies.

@Dezmancer Try using ScreenScraper as source, I'm not sure TGDB has marquees or if it even works with this particular scraper.

When I was messing round with lr-dosbox about a year ago you could control the mouse using the gamepad analog stick. I think this is exactly what you are looking for.
