Another question. When I map buttons in Retroarch, do i still need to hit the tab button on my keyboard to enter in other inputs while in a Mame game?

@rig I believe all of them can be changed in the RetroArch menu. You do need to save them for turn to be applied when you restart RetroPie, so depending on your setup you may want to go straight to the config files for that after you're happy with the results.

Does this mean that they wont be applied unless you save and restart? Or do they apply instantly but get reset if not saved? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

I believe that the changes are applied immediately but as soon as you exit the game/retroarch you lose the changes unless you save them. You can verify this by making changes, exiting the menu and the reentering the menu and checking to see if your changes are still there.

another thing you can do is change the retroarch video driver to dispmanx which is said to save 1 frame off the input latency. i haven't personally done this as it has some side-effects (no shaders, no OSD, no screen rotate)

@herb_fargus @edmaul69 Whoops my bad again. I guess I read edmaul's too quickly. I thought it said you can mention the name of ROM sites but just not links. Sorry for the confusion - didn't mean to violate any rules. Really just had a question.

Obviously .ecm isn't listed as a viable extension for PSX, but if you're sure that it will open, give it a go and be sure to report back with your results. If it works, this might need to be added by default for all users to take advantage of.

To begin, you shouldn't edit that file directly. Make a copy to the alternative directory with:

cp /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/

Then you can edit it with:

nano /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

From there, the systems are listed alphabetically, so work your way down to 'psx' and change:

<extension>.cue .cbn .img .iso .m3u .mdf .pbp .toc .z .znx .CUE .CBN .IMG .ISO .M3U .MDF .PBP .TOC .Z .ZNX</extension>

to:

<extension>.cue .cbn .ecm .img .iso .m3u .mdf .pbp .toc .z .znx .CUE .CBN .ECM .IMG .ISO .M3U .MDF .PBP .TOC .Z .ZNX</extension>

After you've made your edits, press 'ctrl+o' to save and 'enter' to confirm.

If you're looking for a product recommendation, there really aren't that many to choose from. The Thrustmaster pedals seem to walk that line between quality and affordability though. Always read the reviews and weigh them out on average to weed out the extreme viewpoints.

@AlexMurphy Yes they did. I didn't convert them and it's not a file ownership issue.
It was the bios the old bios I was using SCPH1001.BIN. And downloaded the same one from a trusty website and voilá problem solved.

Indeed there's no image screensaver option - at least not yet.

My main focus at the moment is getting both OMX and the screensaver merged into the master branch so that we don't have to maintain two separate branches.

After that is done I may look into that at some point, given that it's something quite a few people have asked for. Just for perspective. Unfortunately, it won't happen in the very short term, but it would be on the roadmap as soon as I sort these two items out.

OMX is already submitted, just waiting for review and approval.
