    @mitu I prefer a small Linux installation via Live CD or USB storage device to access and modify Linux partions. ;) Do you know Puppy Linux? You can get it from here

    @ianmoone1138 To just extract files to a Windows mashineDiskInternals Linux Reader is great. But please don't do cross postings - this is a bad habit.

    @vodkanakas said in Linking rom folders but keeping directories:

    @keigan I want them all to show up under snes system but have seperate directories.

    I've tried adding both directories to es_systems.cfg but it didn't work. I'm just trying to keep the translated seperate from the us but play them from same menu. It may just have to be a folder inside of the snes rom but I thought that looked tacky. Also tried adding a system which worked but can't find/make a logo that I'm happy with lol.

    Hey,

    maybe take a look at this if you haven't figured it out yet

    https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/EmulationStation#platformscfg-edits

    Inside the platform.cfg you could add this

    sfc_theme="snes" sfc_platform="snes"

    or whatever the proper

    <platform>

    and

    <theme>

    are.

    I'm not at home, so don't have access to my Retropie to test, but thought it may work for what you need.

    Alright, so I double checked photoshop and both layers are at 100% opacity with a Normal blend mode @edmaul69. The opacity is definitly set to 1.0 in the retroarch settings and yes, I do have a viewport set to the size of the transparent area of the overlay @AndrewH:

    video_fullscreen_x = 1920
    video_fullscreen_y = 1080
    custom_viewport_width = 1440
    custom_viewport_height = 1080
    custom_viewport_x = 240
    custom_viewport_y = 0
    aspect_ratio_index = 22
    input_overlay = "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/overlay/tv-old/Nintendo.cfg"
    input_overlay_enable = true
    input_overlay_opacity = 1.000000
    input_overlay_scale = 1.000000
    video_smooth = "true"
    video_scale_integer = "false"
    video_shader_enable = "false"
    video_font_size = "16"
    video_message_pos_x = 0.17
    video_message_pos_y = 0.06

    @edmaul69, I'll try using two overlays but I have a feeling I'll either get none or it'll display only the first one that appears in the cfg file.

    This isn't about RetroPie directly, but it is about EmulationStation. The most up-to-date version of that seems to be managed by the RetroPie organization, which is why I posted here.

    Thanks for the pointers, everyone. I don't have much time to dig much more into this right now, but if I end up finding a good solution I'll post back on the forums in case anyone else is interested in something similar.

    Nice troubleshooting. These types of problems with RetroArch turn up often when 'Save Configuration on Exit' is enabled, so be sure to make those files your first port of call for any other inexplicable issues going forward.

    @paddyo41 No probs. These type of issues tend to be hardware related 95+% of the time. Hardware is always the easiest thing to swap out. If it persists after checking / replacing hardware then software is the next stop obviously.

    Did you try?

    nano /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg

    and editing:

    pcsx_rearmed_vibration = "enabled"

    to

    pcsx_rearmed_vibration = "disabled"

    @caver01 @edmaul69 The Fn plus F-key is how the keyboard is designed to work, so just changing the kb type will make it function as designed. It needs to be adjusted to get "normal" PC behaviours.

    @maegirom said in All scraped data and games in favorite list are gone oO':

    What is that append option you are talking about? where is it? I think I haven't noticed it anywhere.

    I only used the scraper from the RetroPie-Setup menu, where the Gamelist appears alt text
    I didn't use it from the command line and I don't know what's the default.

    It's adviced to update drivers or something?

    If you like to get bugfixes and new features, yes, but it's not mandatory. Make sure to update from the RetroPie-Setup menu, as explained in the docs.

    @lupacexi said in Overall controller recommendations?:

    Is this possible to have lag due to Bluetooth

    Yes, it's possible, especially if you're also using the Wifi. People usually get a separate Bluetooth USB adapter and disable the PI3 onboard bluetooth and this improves the lag situation.

    What is a decent wired controller that I could have 4 of so we could alternate from simple NES games to some MAME games like TMNT.

    If you want cheap, then the Buffalo Classic controllers are decent (though they suffer from mild ghosting - search the forum for details) for their price. The Logitech F310 is also good and works nice with RetroPie.
    Don't forget to check the Controller section of the docs for compatibility or just ask the forum if you have a model in mind.

    Try the official image from the RetroPie website. Custom images are not supported here. If you have an issue with the official image we'll be glad to help. If you're using one from another source, contact who created that image for assistance.

    i don't think your layout is quit right. you don't need a set of p1 start / insert coin buttons AND start and select - by default p1's 'start' is 'p1 start', and p1's 'select' is 'p1 insert coin', etc.

    if you still want to do it, you may have to configure the pX start and insert coin buttons after the initial setup manually, as i'm not sure you can bind two buttons to the same retropad button during the initial setup.

    also your button layout is... weird to me. start and select under the action buttons? bit late to change that now, though :)

    i would also have like:

    Y X R1 L1 B A R2 L2

    since you only have 6 action buttons, looks like you may have to use:

    Y X L1 B A R1

    however that might not pair well with default controls in arcade emulators, so you may need to reconfigure them after.

    @a-southern RetroPie is not an emulator. Are you referring to the Emulationstation frontend, used for browsing the games/systems and launching ROMs ?

    Update: I believe I have located all of the files associated with “ControlBlock Service” (photo attached). The SD Card is currently mounted to a Windows PC and I am using a software called “Diskinternals” to view the files. However, the software only allows me to “read” and “copy” from the files located in the SD Card.

    Can someone please share of a method on how to write (delete) files from the SD Card while mounted to a Windows PC? Thank you0_1516787146377_3276996D-D569-4F4B-A4BD-8AE974D51703.png

    The BIOS file, neogeo.zip, for NeoGeo games using lr-fbalpha can be placed in the BIOS folder (source). This does only work on recent versions of lr-fbalpha.

    I set up my Neo Geo system recently and placing neogeo.zipin the BIOS folder did not work on v0.2.97.39 that was installed on my system. It worked fine when I updated to v0.2.97.42.
