@mitu Well, as always thanks for the help. I don't think it's underpowered given my new 3.5a CanaKit PSU made specifically for the Pi4 and it's a powered USB hub. But I can't rule out an unseated cable or something because now it's back to working correctly. I'm going to keep the USB HDD connected directly to the Pi, since if that isn't seen on boot, then it won't have access to the romsets which explains why they wouldn't show up, and if the USB cable to the hub got jostled then that would also explain why the gamepad wasn't detected.

@bbilford83 said in Yabasanshiro exit game:

@shavecat OK great. That I think I can help with. Go to \retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\ and you will see an es_input.cfg file as well as an es_temporary.cfg file. If you open up the former, you'll see a list of all the controllers your setup currently will recognize and their mapping. Each one will be introduced with a line that looks something like this: " <inputConfig type="joystick" deviceName="8BitDo SN30 Pro+" deviceGUID="05000000c82d00000261000000010000">." Now open the temporary one, and you will see it will only list one controller. Replace whatever is in there now with the correct controller info from es_input.cfg, then save.

At least for me, that fixes the emulator mapping in yabasanshiro so I can exit again, but I've had to do it again anytime I connect a different controller to my pi.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

@jimmyfromthebay that's weird because I run my game-override configs from the "configs" folder and I've not had any issues.

      What's this?:

      configs.hdmi

...is it supposed to say that, or...? That's not standard, I don't think...

Is this make any difference for neocd emulation?

@folly Sounds like great progress! Ingenious work with the PSP battery.

I bet PS2 is decent for emulation, they are powerful enough in retro terms. PSP seems more fun - I like the handheld retro aspect.

I've got an XBox One and a decent laptop as well, I like modern and retro. There is some messing around to get games to work sometimes on Windows - I had trouble with Jurrasic World Evolution this week, took me a day to get it working (it didn't like booting up in anything other than 60hz 1080p). I'm playing Halo Infinite now as well - it is so good for a free game (only the multiplayer is free though).

@jimmyfromthebay said in Is there any way to use two joysticks for Wonderswan?:

Not sure what you mean by that. There's no such option that I can find under Controls (I have Show Advanced Options set to On).

You need to update RetroArch, this option is only a few months old, see https://www.libretro.com/index.php/retroarch-1-9-6-released/

Ah, thanks. I'm absolutely terrified to update core features like Retroarch in case they've done something moronic that requires the manual alteration of literally thousands of CFG files, like that time they added a new video aspect ratio which renumbered all the other ones :(

If the PSX controller is P2, without any configuration, in order to switch controllers you should have:

      input_player1_joypad_index = "1" input_player2_joypad_index = "0"

You can re-order the controllers also from the configuration editor configuration - it's one of the advanced options you can set.

The file is from the upstream Retroarch's repository - you can submit a PR there to have it fixed.

@holyheadshot said in Cannot map controls to IPAC:

Maybe another silly question but I've read other threads about emulation station configuring as gamepad vs keyboard. Would changing something like that help?

There's no explicit setting in EmulationStation for that, however there is one for the IPAC and it's referenced in the doc page I linked earlier.

For the input part - can you get a verbose log from the emulator and see what it reports ?

@billymild by default retropie uses the RGUI menu driver:
      alt text

it sounds like you're talking about the XMB menu driver:
      alt text

you could set it to the latter via https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Configuration-Editor/ -

advanced config configure libretro options all/retroarch.cfg menu_driver = xmb

note that RGUI is the menu that is referenced in all our docs, and may be more performant on low spec machines like Pis.

@chuck_pierce said in screen_orientation in retroarch.cfg doesn't seem to work:

The video_rotation works like a champ (so my games play in the correct orientation), but the retroarch menu doesn't seem to be able to rotate. I've got a cocktail style machine and have the screen rotated 90 deg. I've tried values 1, 2, 3, and 4 with no changes to the retroarch menu.

that's right. this function is intended to rotate the GAME, not the whole session. it is working as intended. it looks like there's an outstanding issue to rotate the whole lot outside of X, that you could follow here: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/6770

unfortunately the ability to rotate the entire session outside of X does not exist for pi4, as far as i know.
