@mitu Thank you so much. This solved my problem. I never knew there was such trouble just copying files. And thanks again for the advice, copying over wifi and ssh 10.000 small files is really a bad idea.

Yeah I meant threaded video. I've had the same RetroPie build from version 4.4, its hard to remember all the changes and configurations I've made. I'll try to share once I think of them.
Do you have a fan installed? The temp_soft_limit is 60 by default and will throttle the cpu to 1.2ghz
I increased the soft_limit to 70 and it barely reaches 63 during emulation.

Have you updated retroarch, raspbian, and your cores, since you installed the image?
the firmware, I should search to find out for sure, I think it is updated when you go to retropie config >> configure >> raspbian >> update raspbian(next to install pixel desktop)
It could be a psx_bios, some have higher compatibility, I have quite a few in my folder actually, but I think scph_101 is the highest compatibility and it will be chosen over the others, not to be confused with scph_1001.

As I say that Gran Turismo refuses to work.
I don't know why, but I did update the core since I last played it.

@krullbeast said in can udev read i2c and hardwired GPIO buttons simultaneously?:

do you think it is possible to read the i2c data and also the A and B buttons inside of retroarch?

Not an expert on this, but I think RetroArch doesn't read directly from GPIO (I2C or otherwise), instead it uses an established input driver (udev/sdl/etc.) - https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/tree/master/input/drivers.

@Efriim no I haven’t tried that game. Thanks for finding the forum post about standalone psp exiting back to emulation station rather than the psp menu. Good to know since that was my main issue using standalone. Using the retroarch version now seems like a more viable option than it was before in terms of performance based on my testing and it is nice to have the GUI. But i will try this out on my experimental setup to try to confirm it works.

      @markwkidd thanks.

Actually, it might be something that we can solve on our end on autoconfig.

Adding the following to the mapping on /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads solved it:

      input_b_btn_label = "Cross (down)" input_y_btn_label = "Square (left)" input_select_btn_label = "Select" input_start_btn_label = "Start" input_up_btn_label = "D-Pad Up" input_down_btn_label = "D-Pad Down" input_left_btn_label = "D-Pad Left" input_right_btn_label = "D-Pad Right" input_a_btn_label = "Circle (right)" input_x_btn_label = "Triangle (up)" input_l_btn_label = "L1" input_r_btn_label = "R1" input_l2_btn_label = "L2" input_r2_btn_label = "R2" input_l3_btn_label = "L3" input_r3_btn_label = "R3" input_l_x_plus_axis_label = "Left Analog Right" input_l_x_minus_axis_label = "Left Analog Left" input_l_y_plus_axis_label = "Left Analog Down" input_l_y_minus_axis_label = "Left Analog Up" input_r_x_plus_axis_label = "Right Analog Right" input_r_x_minus_axis_label = "Right Analog Left" input_r_y_plus_axis_label = "Right Analog Down" input_r_y_minus_axis_label = "Right Analog Up" input_menu_toggle_btn_label = "Home"

There's a repository with lots of these mappings here, following @mitu 's thread (thank you!):

      https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-joypad-autoconfig/tree/master/udev

So it's probably something that's RetroPie-specific for now.

      Thanks both.

Thanks for the reply! I installed Retroarch on my phone to see a bit of what you mean. Fewer shaders are available and the same shaders I use on my PC look different thanks to the phone's much higher PPI, and/or maybe some other factors. I suppose this would mainly apply to people playing on Windows or Linux on a 1080 - 4k screen. If you feel this question is of no use here, feel free to remove it.

      What should I do?

Make sure your RetroArch works, this is not an Emulationstation problem. Also, this is a RetroPie forum, not a general RetroArch forum - you might want to try the libretro forums if you have problems using RetroArch on Windows.

Hello all, a quick PSA :)

The lr-mupen64plus-next core got updated some days ago and now is defaulting to 640x480 resolution for new installs. This resolution is a bit taxing for humble devices such as the RPI3 or less, so is strongly recommended that you set the rendering resolution to 320x240 (as it was previously the default) for these devices. Perhaps this is not necessary for RPI4, you have to see for yourself.

This can be done after starting any game and going to the core options menu in RetroArch.

It is important to note that this is not a RetroPie change, but an upstream change. We decided to not change the upstream defaults therefore it is your responsability to change this setting for your own setup.

If you had the core previously installed, the new defaults will not apply because you already have the previous resolution set in your core options.

@mitu said in Can't seem to get Netplay to work:

@mikespie Please add more info about your system - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

The core means which emulator are you using for the running the game. You need to use the exact version of it and also the exact ROM on both systems. Since you're running a Megadrive rom, the core should be either lr-picodrive (I think this is the default) or lr-genesis-plus-gx (see the Megadrive docs).

Thank you for your response, sorry for not providing all info. Just from your post I was able to figure it out and have Netplay working / connecting now! However, it seems as though the controllers do not work in a lot of the games while on Netplay. I have tried using different emulators to no avail. An example is Street Fighter II for Genesis, Player 1 controller works fine, but player 2 controller doesn't work at all. Tried a keyboard as well, both which work fine not in Netplay.

      My system is a CanaKit - https://amzn.to/2Taj5jf
      PI 3 B+ w/ 2.5A power supply
      RetroPie V 4.4.4 (skyscraper-pr6-v3)
Built from premade SD image on RetroPie website
I have a USB keyboard, mouse and controller hooked up to it
Controller is working great outside of Netplay, it's an "EasySMX 2.4G Wireless Controller" and also a Geeekpi SNES USB controller
      Emulator is lr-genesis-plus-gx

      Thanks again!

@NeoDude Not a mistake, but it seems something is missing. Do you have OpenGL acceleration working ?
Have you used Ubuntu's installer or did you manually install the driver ? I'd recommend using the Ubuntu's PPA packages to install the drivers or the Ubuntu package management app (Software center ?).

@mitu due https://github.com/pimoroni/Picade-Sketch/blob/master/Picade/Picade.ino i think it's pretty time consuming reconfigure the hardware due the picade-hat is recognized as a keyboard. I just changed forcing the value : input_movie_record_toggle into /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg to be not 'o'.
