Yes, that would be needed since is executed as the pi user.

I am having the same issue above, not finding retro pie on the desk top, after the blue folder.

Well I've tested Sega CD and 32X on my Pi Zero. I used the overclock I mentioned above but with overvolt 2 instead of 6. Sega CD works flawlessly on FMV games and games that use scaling/rotation. Sega 32X is so close to full speed it hurts, but its not quite there. I'm sure if I could squeeze another 100 MHz out of the CPU safely it would work at full speed. It's funny because I remember 32X working good on my Pi1, just not PSX or above. That was a few RetroPie versions back however. This will eventually be a handheld system so active cooling is not really an option. As a result I will likely have to leave 32X out unfortunately, unless performance improves when I lower the screen resolution for the LCD. Out of curiosity, has anyone ever pushed a Pi1 or Pi Zero to 1100 MHz? If so was it stable? How about temperature under load?

@guruchoc This is an old thread, and everyone has a slightly different configuration. You need to provide all of the details from here. For example, how did you load RetroPie? What hardware are you running? Which MAME? etc. etc.

@jeffjordan Another nice trick with the neogeo.zip is this: If you are using lr-fbalpha to play these games, you can stick the neogeo.zip file in the BIOS directory instead of a ROMs folder. FBA will check there for the neogeo and use it. That way, it is out of the games list regardless of filters/metadata.

On some n64 games the Emulator menu pops up... but I've ran into some... that do not give prompt, just a black screen until the rom loads ...I swear I just accessed that menu on Mario Kart the other day

It sounds like another emulator was launched prior to you using the N64 emulator and left the framebuffer in an unusable state. Two emulators that are currently known to do this are the standalone version of Stella (Atari2600) and DraStic (Nintendo DS). If such an issue happens, there's really nothing to do but restart your system, as restarting Emulation Station isn't enough.

The /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation is actually the same folder as /home/pi/.emulationstation, the latter being a symlink to the former.

Emulationstation reads the custom file in /home/pi/.emulationstation, then - if the 1st doesn't exist - the default one /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg (installed and maintained by the RetroPie setup script).

I never got any upgrade to ever write a custom ES systems file in that folder, but I'm only using RetroPie since 4.2.0 - so it might have been a problem in the past.

Resurrecting an old topic, but just a note that if you update RetroPie-Setup to version 4.3.8 or later and reinstall AGS, MIDI playback should now work correctly - no need to install the GUS patches manually. AGS content will also automatically appear in EmulationStation without the need to manually edit any files. I've removed the obsolete instructions from the RetroPie wiki.
