    @mitu said in xboxdrv dpad-as-axis: is it possible? (ps3 controller + intellivision):

    --displaysize=%XRES%x%YRES%

    Yes. So this needs to go, I think, after the -config option for those custom jzintv commands. It wasn't working for me until I did that. If all else fails, this version of the xboxdrv line worked for me:

    jzintv-xboxdrv = "sudo /opt/retropie/supplementary/xboxdrv/bin/xboxdrv --config /opt/retropie/configs/xboxdrv/intellivision.xboxdrv >>/dev/shm/runcommand.log & /opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/bin/jzintv -p /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS -q --displaysize=%XRES%x%YRES% --kbdhackfile=/opt/retropie/configs/intellivision/hackfile_trondd.cfg %ROM%; sudo killall >/dev/null xboxdrv"

    But you will need to update RetroPie from source for the PS3 buttons to show up in event_diag.
    Now if I could figure out why the config menus no longer work with controllers (I need my keyboard to use them)...
    For updaters: RetroPie -> Run Command Configuration -> set Joy2Key version to udev (instead of sdl) and then re-enabling the launch menu from the same set of options will fix this

    @dankcushions I may try another SD if I need to rewrite the image. I just purchased a new Sandisk extreme from a Best Buy last week. The one I’m using currently I bought from someone, so it’s possible it’s a fake, idk at this point.

    @pscotto1234 L3 is supposed to be test mode (options mode) or if it isn't configured you can do it while playing a game by going into the retroarch menu then choose controls/port 1 controls/then set the L3 to test. R3 is set to service as default so yeah it just add coins if you press it.

    Ok, so how can I set options to have penalties when a match ends with a draw?

    @tamisium In the RetroArch menu's Quick Menu -> Options, do you have "Mouse Device" set to "mouse"?

    Actually looks like some of the performance issues have been resolved for a couple of shaders in later version of Retropie. But some seemingly simple and old filters have terrible performance, like 2xsai.

    What i like to use in Retroarch is the Simple2x CPU filter + bilinear filtering. This way the pixels still look like squares, but they are not razor sharp.
    In Retropie the closest is sharpbilinear shaders, but those are way too sharp for my taste.

    Personally i do not like the looks of the "advanced" CRT shaders. The phosphor and grille look just too messy to me. I like a more clean look.
    So i look for a much more simple scanline filter. But not with black scanlines, but maybe something like 50% brightness of the normal brightness.

    Some time ago i changed crt-pi to look like simple scanlines.

    I changed these parameters :
    #pragma parameter SCANLINE_GAP_BRIGHTNESS "Scanline gap brightness" 0.50 0.0 1.0 0.01
    #define MASK_TYPE 0

    But i understand that zfast should perform better. I might try to do the same with the zfast_crt_standard. Although the code looks quite a bit different.

    @wolfyn-claw I have had similar problems experimenting with Ubuntu 64bit. I don’t believe your going to get much help with that. However you could try installing retropie on raspberry pi is beta 64 version. It worked for me.

    @dankcushions said in Pi 4b black screen issues:

    @luisdent like i said, show us your config file and we can diagnose. there's an extra few lines that helps on some monitors:

    hdmi_max_pixel_freq:0=200000000 hdmi_max_pixel_freq:1=200000000

    in addition to a working 1080p mode, which for you may be

    hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=82

    ps, can you not SSH in to diagnose via another PC on the network?

    Not sure which fixed it, but this made it work properly. It flickers a screen with the terminal/command cursor a few times quickly but i see it and then it displays the appropriate screen following that. So far i've gone in and out of config screens and reboots and it appears to be working now.

    Thanks!!!

    Now to fix the performance issues ;-) or i should say optimize. it runs fairly well. :)

    @drdave79 as per https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/30925/amiga-1200 it sounds like you're using a custom image so who knows how it's configuring emulationstation. we cannot support you in any capacity unless you are on the official image.

    @calvorejas I'm starting to think that it might be a hardware problem...
    Because I restarted multiple times and by wiggling the sticks (it's a homemade arcade machine) before launching any game, anything, it seems that the problem disappears... But I don't know for sure if this is possible... I though I broke something software related, but now it seems it has to do more with hardware than software...

    A bug I have always encountered is that sometimes... My right stick gets stuck like it is being push to the right... And I have to wiggle it so it stops being permanently pushed... Although, the stick is not being physically touched or pushed to the right, it's not even broken, the microswitch that tells the arcade that the stick is being pushed to the right is not even being physically pushed...

    What's weird is that this had never prevented games and programs to launch... And now it seems it does if I not wiggle the sticks before I launch something...

    Does anybody have any idea why this could be happening?

    Looking in to the source, there doesn't seem to be a direct makefile for linux.
    I can't compile the source.
    I would say it's beyond my level now.

    If you really want, you can try and use the windows binary within box86/wine :
    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28528/box86-and-wine-on-rpi4

    To me, lr-mess/mame seems to be the best option here.

    Set your default video resolution at 720x576i or 720x480i and switch to 240p when running a game, using the Runcommand onstart script - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#runcommand-onstart-and-runcommand-onend-scripts.
