    Did you delete the es_input.cfg file from EmulationStation's configuration folder ($HOME/.emulationstation) ?

    The permissions look fine. The message is from EmulationStation, not from running a game. You only see it when EmulationStation goes into the background at the time a game is launched.

    Normally this message is logged when EmulationStation encounters a folder when it expects a file, but I've only seen it associated with the Daphne system. It doesn't affect gameplay.

    Do you only ever have one type of controller plugged in, and only using retroarch cores?

    If yes, then you could use the EmulationStation input configuration to set up the M30 to match Sega Genesis (or whatever), and then create a core remap file in the retroarch RGUI > Input settings to swap any buttons as needed in the other cores. You could use even use game remaps if you need to.

    It is also possible, but more manual effort, to put different configurations in different directories, and then use the retroarch.cfg joypad_autoconfig_dir setting to point different cores (or even games) at different controller configurations.

    joypad_autoconfig_dir = "/opt/retropie/configs/snes/joypads/"

    @colstar yeah that's understandable if you are new to this. My point is you don't even have to use a UBS stick to transfer ROMs. Can do it all with your PC and its not even a very technical process. But if you like the USB way that's cool

    emus, is there any way to map certain keys to the gamepad since this console uses just 1 button for playing? These ones mostly:

    This is a very old thread but I want to share somenthing that works well for me just in case someone else will find it useful.

    I purchased a $16 3-Key USB keypad from amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P1GY3GN/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_H610W0ZBZ6DNXZSZESYK

    I easily (30 second effort) programed the keys to F2, F3, F4 and it works perfectly!

    Thanks all above for the help. I was able to clear that in the mame2003 core, but for some reason, mame 2010 was not as cooperative. It automatically binds the mame menus to the L3/R3 thumbstick buttons and can't be cleared (I tried using the same method as mame 2003, but to no avail). But I came up with an easier work around for both. I simply unbound my l2/r2 and l3/r3 buttons from my controllers themselves. I find there is no real need for any of these to be used for classic gaming, as all you really need are the shoulder and face buttons. So that uncomplicated things, and the menus are now no longer accessible. Easy peazy.

    @gvfo Yea, I forgot the name. It is the ps2 compilation orochi saga, but the japanese version has 95,96,97 with arranged cd audio.
    Yea, the load times in the neocd emulators are fast, but the music restarting was always a long time annoyance. I do appreciate that it exists, though.

    @darom

    Please say which controller, emulator and game you are using.

    I had a similar problem. Try other emulators (Atari, NES, etc) and see if those work. If your controller/s also works in EmulationStation (the menu that pops up when u first activate retropie), then the problem is that the controller isn't configured right in-game or for the specific n64 emulator.

    If your n64 emulator starts with the letters lr, you can access the retroarch menu to change the controller settings in-game. You can do this by plugging in a keyboard to ur RPI4B and using Hotkey + X (in-game) to open the retroarch menu and change your controls. Play around with changing them till something works.

    Here's the link about retorarch on the docs: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Core-Options/
    Video I also used:

    Also make sure to check this out and include all the info in it: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

    Hope you have fun. I really recommend trying Rogue Squadron on n64 and Star Wars racer (for 2 persons). Relatively hard games, but worth it.

    @brandflake11 said in Is There a Way to Emulate Louder?:

    @alphabetapie As of the current retroarch version, I don't think you can set the audio output gain per game (correct me if I'm wrong!). It's a system setting. I think the first step would be to find out if you can load different system settings depending on what game you launch.

    If that doesn't work, you could do it with this step (although I don't know how retropie manages retroarch.cfg since they have their own scripts that modify settings):
    You could implement a script using sed to change the
    audio_volume in ~/.config/retroarch/retroarch.cfg before launching the game from retroarch. Maybe there would be a way to do this in the menu before retroarch is launched with retropie. Changing the audio_volume in retroarch.cfg would be trivial with sed, it would just be a matter of figuring out how to change it depending on what game you would want.

    Thanks for all the helpful info and trying to assist. I guess the best I can do at the moment is to just adjust the audio volume in the arcade game's dipswitches for now and see if it persists. It is what the arcade owners would have had to do back in the day using that method.
