    Still not enough really to be sure that's not your issue.

    @thedatacereal

    On some n64 games the Emulator menu pops up... but I've ran into some... that do not give prompt, just a black screen until the rom loads ...I swear I just accessed that menu on Mario Kart the other day

    It sounds like another emulator was launched prior to you using the N64 emulator and left the framebuffer in an unusable state. Two emulators that are currently known to do this are the standalone version of Stella (Atari2600) and DraStic (Nintendo DS). If such an issue happens, there's really nothing to do but restart your system, as restarting Emulation Station isn't enough.

    The /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation is actually the same folder as /home/pi/.emulationstation, the latter being a symlink to the former.

    Emulationstation reads the custom file in /home/pi/.emulationstation, then - if the 1st doesn't exist - the default one /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg (installed and maintained by the RetroPie setup script).

    I never got any upgrade to ever write a custom ES systems file in that folder, but I'm only using RetroPie since 4.2.0 - so it might have been a problem in the past.

    Resurrecting an old topic, but just a note that if you update RetroPie-Setup to version 4.3.8 or later and reinstall AGS, MIDI playback should now work correctly - no need to install the GUS patches manually. AGS content will also automatically appear in EmulationStation without the need to manually edit any files. I've removed the obsolete instructions from the RetroPie wiki.

    @sano You know what dude? I solved the problem myself :D . You know PPSSPP for Windows for e.g. It's in the same form as the one I mentioned. But now, I want to mess with es_systems.cfg, to run it through the Emulationstation menu. You see, the reason of can only boot one file error, was that in the es_systems.cfg file, there was line like this:
    <command>/opt/retropie/emulators/ppsspp/PPSSPPDL</command>
    And when I was trying to open .iso file through th ES menu, RetroPie was cofused, whether it should run PPSSPPDL, or .iso file. That was the reason of occuring can only boot one file error message. Coming back to es_systems.cfg, how to edit it in order to run PPSSPPDL, through psp section??? Hardware list, if necessary:

    Raspberry Pi 2 Model B 32GB Sandisk SD Card TP-LINK 150Mbps Wireless Nano USB Adapter (Model TL- WN725N) Esperanza Bluetooth USB Dongle (model wasn't specified on the box, I'm really sorry...) PPSSPPDL (non-libretrocore version, but I told you about it before)

    If you are looking for both capacity and performance, I highly recommend the Sandisk Extreme series cards (not Ultra). I went through a great deal of frustration a while back with seemingly random pauses on ISO based games due to either transfer rate limitations or more likely interruptions to the data stream from the ISO image while playing a disk image based game. I finally found what I consider to be the best solution for both speed and capacity in the Sandisk Extreme 128GB SD card. Once I found this card, the issues I was having all but vanished and I've never needed to test another card. The only downside is it is pricey, so you might want a smaller card if you don't need the capacity. I should mention I have not tested smaller cards in the Extreme series though. In the thread link below, you will find my final post on the subject at the bottom with benchmarks.

    @raider2747 That's why the .cue file is needed - its contents describe how the game data/music is distributed in the .bin files. If you open a .cue file (which is nothing but a text file) you'll see that.

    A Pi3 with lr-fba does not need overclocking. The slowdowns you see are either:

    something that also happens on real hardware when there's too much action going on - part of the charm!

    CPU throttling (check the temperature) or undervoltage

    some games are programmed to look like they're slowing down (drama effect), it's something bizarrely intentional
