@kikus said in lr-pcsx-rearmed loads but freezes at "Paused." black screen:

Built From: Started from Nachos 64GB image but updated all package from source recently

We don't support 3rd party images. Ask the author(s) of the image for support or use the image from retropie.org.uk/download.

I have set up a new retropie with two xbox one wireless controllers. Both have worked perfectly.
Then, after weeks of intense use, the left on the right joystick stopped working on the first controller. But Ok I just used the second controller for that single game where I need both analogue joysticks. Today after month of intense use the same thing appeared on the second controller. The left on the right joystick stopped working. I have tested the controllers on another linux using jstest-gtk, they are in perfect condition.
Just that single left axis on the right analogue joystick is affected. everything else is still working. strange.

@azurden it’s trivial to acquire mame roms of a certain version, but we can’t assist as per the rules. do not try and find roms and then determine their version after the fact - hundreds of mame rom versions so it will almost certainly be wrong. find the version you need.

You should post issues with beta firmware on the Raspberry Pi forums, since you'll get better support there. If you want to get back to a working EEPROM, I suggest you use Raspberry Pi Imager and flash the latest stable EEPROM image.

@chris3535 as @mitu said, I needed to go into the retroarch settings for lr-fuse and set the control 3 option to keyboard, works fine now.

And make sure you are not trying to play a Dreamcast WINCE game ... because they won't work in any Dreamcast Emulator in the Raspberry Pi.

According to your diagram, if you swapped where P2 and P3 stood then you can have the same shader on all the games and things would be "smoother" with the video orientation being same for all games.

@common763 RetroPie has kiosk mode which does exactly this for its interface. You can make changes in full UI and then run in kiosk mode most of the time. You can quickly jump in and out of UI modes.

@pokerparties Flipping the screen 180, just makes it "upside down". Do you mean 90 degrees, similar to the difference between 'portrait' and 'landscape'?

If so, then you can just use a shader in Retroarch. That's what I do. Regardless, shaders are the way to go. (There is a "hardware" route to go with the "Pi 3" that you can't do on the "Pi 4", but I think it's CPU intensive.) You'd get better performance with shaders.

@dt42o First and foremost, all of my machines run on Linux, so if yours don't, I don't know how helpful my setup may be for you.

In short, my Pi 4 runs on the official RetroPie image, while the other two use the Ubuntu variants Kubuntu and KDE Neon with RetroPie installed like it's described here. I keep their rom directories synced with the tool Unison which is also available for Windows, but may have to be compiled from source. Many Linux variants have its binary in their software repositories, but I don't know if or where you can get a pre-built binary for Windows.

Conceptually, my PC keeps the main RetroPie setup where I do all scraping, testing and rom management. The other two only receive the end results and transfer any changes, saved games, hiscores etc. back to the PC, which in turn propagates them to the other "child".

I didn't automate this process fully, but use the GUI version of Unison manually, so my approach needs a sufficient amount of consequence in transferring any changes in a timely manner. Since Unison ultimately is a command line tool, automation should be relatively easy, but I like to have the full control and the "last say" in any synchronisation. 🧐

@curplunk said in Issues with fresh install:

If I restart with both joy sticks plugged in it boots to a setting screen and not one, I can configure the 2nd stick. Thoughts?

Assuming the joysticks are identical (same model), configuring the 1st would automatically configure the 2nd one - the configuration is associated with the joystick name, so they would share the same configuration. Did you properly exit EmulationStation after configuring the 1st joystick ?

Also, what key do I set for coins/adding more lives?

That's bound to the Select button.

@kitaek27 Glad you got it working.
One advantage when using the Raspberry Pi Image is that you don't need to download the image, the program will do it for you and automatically check the image file against its checksum.

You don't really need a 'splitter' , you can configure both controllers in RetroPie and then configure the emulator to use a particular controller when starting a game - with https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection.
