@mitu said in Emulation Station Controls (IPAC2):

@djsim101 Try to map your input in ES first, so you'll not have problems navigating around, then make whatever modifications you want to the retroarch.cfg file to make things work.
Take a look at the docs for the RetroArch controls configuration, perhaps you will want to edit the configuration on a system by system basis.

What he said. I'm on an iPac too, and the mapping done in EmulationStations GUI also maps Player 1 (and the /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_input.cfg).

Afterwards, just add the needed lines in the /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg for Player 2. Make sure to use a real Text Editor like TextWrangler or something, notepad won't do.

i was looking to play around with it and to make some thing that will run old arcade games -ps 1possibly ps2 , dream cast, game cube, and Xbox games. to give to my cusin as a gift for his doctorate graduation in 1- 2 years when he is done and i would not mind a copy for my self and i dont want to have to build something too big for him that is going to cost me a arm and leg.

Do you have any video scraped for your games ? That's the source for the screensavers - so you should get those using the Steven Selph's scraper - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Scraper/.
Then, you can look in the video posted by @retroprogrammer - skip the whole updating and re-installing - to see how it's configured in EmulationStation.

@andershp said in Retroarch 1.6.9 update slowing emulations down?:

@darksavior I did and it seems like it worked. My go-to point for latency testing has always been Batrider though, and this surely plays slower (=input laggier) than it did before. But I have not tried updating MAME2003 from source, will do this soon.

Maybe Batrider is generally just a game that's on the limit of the pi.. I tested a bunch of shooters and fighters yesterday and they all seem fine now.

You really should use FBA for certain Toaplan and Eighting / Raizing games, firstly due to the performance being better and with regards to
some games the Emulation of the sound and music is 100%............

I use FBA for all these for the above reasons

    Armed Police Batrider
    Batsugun
    Battle Bakraid
    Battle Garrega
    Dogyuun
    Fire Shark
    FixEight
Ghox (Next FBA release will have sound)
    Kingdom GP
    Knuckle Bash
    Out Zone
    Rally Bike
    Sky Shark
    Sorcer Striker
    Truxton
    V-Five

I do not know about Zelda or about cheats but I have been using Super Mario 64 on my Pi with Mupen64plus-GlideN64 emulator and it runs fairly well.
I will say to make sure you have a powerful enough power supply. I was previously using a power supply below the recommended threshold and, while everything worked, I noticed games from systems like N64 and Playstation did not work so great. Then I started using a recommended power supply and I noticed that these games (such as Mario64) are working much better.

@mitu Yes! That worked! You genius! This is the edit I made to system.sh
    i changed

    to

@administrators So I am guessing that the next update should have code for both ODROID-XU3 and ODROID-XU4, linking them each to "odroid-xu".

What is the setting where you go back/exit called? If I push 1 on the logitech pad I exit emulation, which is the B button in nes games.

Also noticed that I don't have to add lots of games. Simply adding more and more systems to retropie will also chew up ES's RAM until it can't launch anything.

I might try playing around with the memory split to see if this helps at all, and allocating more VRAM to emulation station... but it may not work. Currently I have the memory split at 128.

@sebastianceg Are you sure the ROM files (italian) are good/correct ? Enable verbose logging with the RunCommand launch menu (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/) and paste the contents of the log file - /dev/shm/runcommand.log - to pastebin.com or similar site to see if we spot any errors.

@qu9ke RetropPie will not use the FAT32 formatted partition to store the data. It doesn't matter if your SD card is formatted or not. If you write the RetroPie image on the card, you'll see that will create 2 partitions

a small Fat32 partition to hold the boot files and boot configuration a larger Linux partition that will actually hold the system, including the ROMs, emulators, etc. This partition will be automatically expanded on 1st boot to fill in the rest of your SD card.

So yes, you're overthinking it. Just write the RetroPie image on the SD card and start your Raspberry Pi.

@aardvark Yeah that really depends on the number of games you have. So that is hard to nail down until you actually have everything scraped. Each video is a different size. For example an Atari 2600 games snap that is 30 seconds long will be much smaller than say a PSX games of 30 seconds. The videos that are scraped and converted for the pi are 30fps @ 320x240 4:3 aspect. Great for the pi and they are smaller size too! (the vidsnaps can be 640x480 @ 60fps 4:3 the pi can handle them..but the converted ones work much better!)

Honestly a one terabyte hard drive will get you most of everything the pi can handle. However a 128gb micro sd card is "perfect" and a 256gb should be more than enough..unless you want to run a LOT of psx games. (This does not include PC-ish games.) My system with games, videos and snaps fit on a 64gb card happily (and that includes daphne). Note though that i pulled out alot of arcade games (clones/mature/mahjong).
