    Well I guess I got this figured out and on the way learned WHAT NOT TO DO lol.

    Now to figure out this mausberry bit so I can get the switches to behave how I would like.....

    Power = Power on and proper shutdown when powered on

    Reset = when in emulation reset back to retropie gui/main screen, when at retropie main screen and reset is hit a proper reset is performed

    Keep your eyes peeled for another noon post, because I've read a lot about these mausberry switches and am quite lost how to get the performance I would like.

    I will make another thread for that tho as its completely off topic for this one.

    @dankcushions said in SNES Retroarch config confusion:

    @baviaannl no, it should still look like the example @mitu posted above.

    /all/retroarch.cfg is always loaded - it is the 'global retroarch.cfg' file referred to in the example.

    This is beginning to make a lot of sense, thanks for your help.

    @greenhawk84 I fired up the Super Famicom and they say right around 60 fps. Things also don't seem as fast as I was remembering them last night. Unless anyone else says they've seen it, I'm going to chalk it up to me over analyzing things looking for bugs after I rebuilt that system or being really tired. ¯\(ツ)/¯

    Dear Mulder

    I also want to install retropie to a 4 player arcade machine with ipac 4 and for each player:

    Joystick direction = 4 Buttons
    Buttons = 6 buttons
    Start = 1 Button
    Select = 1 Button

    Extra: Pause button, Credit button (only 1 or for all players)

    Do you still have the retroarch.cfg file whicj I can use?

    Well, I've half-answered my question. I somehow suspected CEC to be an issue, and lo, when I changed hdmi_ignore_cec_init to hdmi_ignore_cec, ES stalls on launch, spits out "lvl0: CECInput::mAdapter->Open failed", runs, and then works perfectly, so it's probably an issue with the libcec I'm using.

    @unspacey To put it another way, by changing the "setting" as you describe it to use 2003, what you are doing is telling RetroPie which version of MAME you want to use. To succeed, the game you are launching must be a ROM from the version .78 set.

    @commanderj Hi CommanderJ

    You need to use a text editor that understands UNIX-style line breaks. Notepad doesn't and that's why it all appears on a single line for you.

    I suggest Notepad++ which is free. When you edit a text file from your RPi it should say Unix (LF) at the bottom of the Notepad++ window.

    Here's my full eduke32.cfg. Feel free to copy it and amend it to your liking.

    @lostless @Newellj79 you are correct, but Mortal Kombat and just about everything else the 2 buttons at once either stops any directions from happening or stays with the first pressed direction. I think you guys are right i am downloading a fresh image now and hopefully i will be okay.

    UPDATE: RESOLVED

    I asked over on Reddit and got a response from a gent who really helped out with this suggestion:
    "RetroPie" >
    "RetroPie Setup" >
    "Configuration / Tools" >
    "805: configedit" >
    "Configure basic libretro emulator options" > At this point, you can either:
    "Configure default options for all libretro emulators" OR
    "Configure configure additional options for [EMULATOR NAME HERE]" In both cases ... go to
    "Choose joypad order" and set which ever connected gamepads as player 1-4

    I assigned defaults to all systems, then went in and specifically assigned the PS controller to PSX as 1 through 4. Restarted. Loaded up Tony Hawk 2 and presto, everything works perfectly (with the exception of wonky button maps but that's easily resolved) Thanks everyone for your input, I think* I have it all figured out now :) Hopefully if someone has this issue in the future they can dig up this thread and the solution.

    I mainly use the 2.1 ROM as it always opens with the draw bridge scene which seems logical and some other nice enhancements. Yeah the original was all over the place on what scene was coming next and of course the reverse scenes. The arcade always cranked it up to hard settings so split second timing was required. It definitely seemed like they incorporated a finite set of scenes for each "section" of the game.

    If you have access to the HD version it looks much sharper than the box set and runs great on the Pi 3.

    For people who know the original game very well, F2 is the gold standard. For 100% authentic gameplay, there is no substitute.

    For people who want an 'improved' version of the original, DLE 1.1 is best. It adds the drawbridge scene, and eliminates many quirks and illogical moves and timing.

    DLE 2.1 is the game as it should have been made to begin with. If you aren't very familiar with the original, this will provide the best play experience. OTOH, if you know the game well, and don't want to 're-learn' it, it will probably just frustrate you.

    @meleu thanks so much for making this script! I would be screwed without it! This should be added to the Retropie main builds! It's so useful!
