retroarch 1.8.7 is not supported yet. the retroarch install script is hard-coded to 1.8.6 until we test 1.8.7 and make the necessary changes, such as the above. you must have modified it.
I was able to disable the MAME menu by coming in through the Retroarch menu. However, it didn't seem to "stick". Is there something that needs to be done to save the changes once they are made?
@mitu Thanks but i did an update instead which i guess that fixed everything but before i was going to ask on here i was thinking of redoing the whole thing but would of taken me like 2 hours to take everything off and put it back on.
@bigbellyman worked like a dream . I approached it slightly different. Copied the theme I wanted to edit to my pc and edited it all there and then copied it over no problems.
@spacebiscuit there is no 'main rom' for MAME/arcade. 'outrun.zip' will have many variants with different contents with exactly the same name. outrun.zip from MAME 0.37b5 will not be the same as outrun.zip from MAME 0.220, for example. there will be a version of outrun.zip that runs in FBNeo - it is the one with the romset version listed here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FinalBurn-Neo/
there's no need to do trial and error and trying different MAME/FBA emulators, you simply download the romset collection for the emulator you are trying to use.
.sh files are not understood by lr-dosbox, but they should work withdosbox - as mentioned in the topic you referenced.
The preferred way would be to use .conf file for launching your games, where you can set your dosbox preferences and add an [autoexec] section for launching the game itself. For instance (game.conf):
[autoexec]
MOUNT c /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc
C:
cd GameDir
Game.exe
EXIT
The .conf files are understood by both dosbox and lr-dosbox.
We don't support 3rd party images, especially the ones loaded with ROMs. Note that selling preloaded RetroPie systems is against the project's license.
Use the image from retropie.org.uk/download to install RetroPie.
Try to update the packages in RetroPie after installation, as described in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/, then try again re-configuring the controller(s) in EmulationStation.
What I want to do: ADD a hotkey that does a CUSTOM action.
The hotkey: DualShock 4 contoller [Share] + [PS Button]
The action: Run a script (The script will toggle vcgencmd display_power 0 and vcgencmd display_power 1)
