      @mitu Oh, yes that file. I tried that but no luck. I remapped and got the same result. Although up and down are reversed, they work just fine but it won't read left and right. Daphne is such a pain to get going. I've done the jstest and see the stick is axis 0 and axis 1 and return a pos/neg 32767 on each axis.
      I don't have any issues with any other emulator I have games for (Fba, Mame, PS1, Sega Genesis, Nes, SNES ,PC Engine). I can't understand what the issue is with Daphne and the axis mapping.

      I had the same problem. I checked the contents of the pi and the overlays were downloaded OK and were in the right place. And the individual game config files were also correct. But the MAME bezels were not displaying automatically (I use the MAME 2003 core). When playing a game I would have to go to the overlay option in the settings menu and switch overlays to ON. The correct overlay would then be displayed. It was a real pain manually switching on the overlays in every game.

      So I created a core level config file called MAME 2003 (0.78).cfg containing the line

      overlays = 1

      I placed this in the directory /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/MAME 2003 (0.78)/

      This made all the arcade bezels appear

      However after all this, the bezels were no use to me! The bezel config files do not have any settings for the game video screen size. So in horizontal games the game screen is smaller than the bezel expects. And in vertical games the game screen is bigger than expected, so the bezel truncates what you can see making the game impossible to play. Other arcade bezel packs have config files that specify the game screen size and these ensure that the game perfectly fits inside the bezel for a really good effect. But these bezel packs have to be manually downloaded and manually installed on your pi.

      @povoas said in Creating a 2D game for RetroPie in Unity:

      For my school project I'm trying to create an arcade using a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie in it. The second part of the project would be creating a game for said arcade. I've trying to find the best platform to create the game on but I'm still not sure which one to choose.
      Love2D was reccomended to me by my teacher however I feel like a software like Unity with an UI would help me alot. My question is could I use Unity somehow and would the RetroPie run it, or is .lua/LOVE my only option?

      Thanks in advance.

      I just saw a video for a Unity3D game running on an RPI4 via Box86: https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86

      I haven't tested this but it sounds like the build process is you build your game for Linux x86, copy the deployment to the Pi, and then run Box86 on it.

      @traveler said in Having trouble with donkey kong (black screen) but pacman works (arcade .78):

      For some reason there were only 3 wav files inside that zip.

      You probably swapped your samples file with your roms file.

      @traveler said in Having trouble with donkey kong (black screen) but pacman works (arcade .78):

      As far as I can tell everything is good now.

      Might as well mention it even if some people prefer it that way or don't care : dkong colors are wrong in mame2003, as an example the red stages are supposed to be pink like this :
      dkong real colors

      If you are interested in getting the game to run with real colors, they are fixed in the recent mame cores (2015 onwards) and the FBNeo core.

      i don't think there's a good way to do this. if you do a custom resolution in retroarch that includes some padding it
      a) won't solve the issue in non-libretro games/emulationstation, etc.
      b) will need to be done for each arcade game as they have many different resolutions.

      the only way i can see is using the overscan settings to add some overscan to give you a vertical border. eg: https://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Big_black_borders_around_small_image_on_HD_monitors
      you'd want something like

      disable_overscan=0 overscan_top=20 overscan_bottom=20 overscan_scale=1

      increase the 20 for _top and _bottom until you get the right amount of border.

      however that will
      a) mess up the aspect ratio of the games, making them look fatter. i guess you could add

      overscan_left=X overscan_right=X

      where X is the same as the number you're using above.
      b) give you some pretty brutal scaling artefacts, since you're fairly low resolution to begin with.

      maybe there's another way...

      @victimrlsh I know it's meant to have a rotary with push-down for fire, with a separate single "grenade/enter tank" button in the middle of the panel.... so I did the best I could with my panel and it works fairly well.

      I have a split two-player joystick setup... left joystick is set to be the player control, right joystick is the gun/turret position control. Directly below and next to the right joystick, I have two buttons for the old school "two-player" games. The button closest to the joystick I can hit with the base of my hand, or just point the joystick and drop down to fire continuously. So that became the "fire" button. The adjacent button is the "grenade/enter tank" button, which I can slap or hit quick with my other finger, then jump back on the joystick.. etc.

      Also.... my Joysticks on this particular cabinet are original Wico leaf-button sticks. I tried using the newer cherry switch style buttons that I have on another cabinet.. but the feel is not the same.

      If you need a pic, let me know.

      Why don't we let the normal flow of product reviews to take place:

      if your users are happy, they'll leave you good reviews; if they don't like it, they'll post a critical review (not just 4/5 reviews). if you want to make sure it works with RetroPie, then you should test it and advertise as such. It's only you that can provide support for the gamepad/fight stick, not the reviewers or this forum.

      It depends on the emulator. If it's a Libretro RetroArch core you can use Core remapping and save a game remap file. If you're using a MAME based emulator, you press Tab to open the menu and configure the Inputs for that particular game. In RetroArch's case, the input configuration in Emulationstation would produce a general mapping which is good enough for most games.
