@johnsorger6 I have used a spinner and joystick in Tron without any issues at all in AdvanceMAME. It sounds like you might have the analog control also mapped to your joystick LEFT which is a default mapping you would want to eliminate in the GUI menu by mapping controls for "this game".

15 days later I finally got enough time and another sdcard to try it again. Confirmed: the problem was the old sdcard. Sorry for the false alarm. Or let's be optimistic, a false positive is better than a real bug. :-)

      Thanks guys!

      @killjoyparris

I've had pretty good luck using Emulation Station to scrape the games and folders. Below is a working example for the original 'Duke Nukem' that illustrates both.

<folder> <path>./duke</path> <name>Duke Nukem</name> <desc>Set in the year 1997, your mission is to stop Dr. Proton, a madman bent on ruling the world with his army of Techbots. As the irrepressible hero Duke Nukem, you'll chase Dr. Proton deep into the Earth, then to his lunar space station, and eventually into the Earth's nuclear ravished future.</desc> <image>/home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/pc/duke-image.jpg</image> </folder> <game> <path>./duke/DUKE1.BAT</path> <name>DUKE1</name> <playcount>1</playcount> <lastplayed>20160429T003736</lastplayed> </game>

European ROMs are very weird with emulators. It's best you use the American version.

@BuZz that make sense, I forgot that RetroPie is not exclusive for Raspbian.

@BuZz said in Sound Settings, audio level drops a point ever time I return there.:

@Wizardling I assume it's just a rounding issue from converting the saved alsa value to a percentage - just ignore it :)

Yeah, but each visit drops the audio level another point. It's not just once. It is every visit, forever, after the initial change. If one installs RetroPie and never changes the default 75% audio level, this doesn't happen. But as soon as one changes the audio level, it drops every single visit, thereafter.

Or if you're saying ignore it regardless of all that, well, I call this a fairly serious sound settings bug. Nothing should be altering settings on it's own every time the user visits settings :-)

      This appears to be fixed...

I updated Retropie setup to 4.1.10 just now, then did an 'install from source' for lr-pcsx-rearmed.

That fixed it! I can set pad 1 to "analog" and keep the rest as "standard" and this is now correctly detected by any games I play.

I'm super confused by this, because it doesn't look like there have been any commits to this core since I filed the bug. Maybe it was a RetroPie bug?

Can anyone else who's been having this problem please try updating your biz and let me know if it fixes it for you too?

@santiagozky It seems the issue is not with the USB controllers but with the steam controller. Problems only appear if I unplug the controller's dongle from the PI. I disabled the driver from the setup script and everything is fine now.

Hey, sorry to keep this issue open for so long.
I was working on a cleaner re-implementation of this, but got bogged down in debugging.
I got very frustrated with it all for a while, and decided to let this lie for a while.

Currently, I am working on theming the system carousel on the main screen. Once that is in reasonable shape, I will start working on this again. I am now able to build (and debug!) on windows which has revitalized my development process a bit, so there's still hope!

Thanks for holding out for such a long time.

Try my approach combined with Luetzels' here:
      https://luetzels.raspiblog.com/?p=1870

Install the patched Bluez from the blog (overwriting default raspbian bluez – do not uninstall it first, just overwrite). Then Shanwan sixad. Reboot, then its working like a boss..

      Try this first.
