@dankcushions I got my main system set up about 6 or 7 months ago and I haven't updated since. I have it pretty much how I want it and don't see a reason to change just yet. I do have another card for testing new stuff though, so I'm ready to go through it all again I might start my setup from scratch and leave out a few things I no longer want.

@herb_fargus heh! So I gave this a shot, and it turns out I don't actually like the button configuration! Maybe I'm just so used to the default config, but the change just felt... wrong.

Anyway... I put it back to the default. Thanks for your suggestion!

15 days later I finally got enough time and another sdcard to try it again. Confirmed: the problem was the old sdcard. Sorry for the false alarm. Or let's be optimistic, a false positive is better than a real bug. :-)

@RoswellWitness if you are experiencing overheating, then I'd probably put a heatsink and/or fan combo (this way you don't cause your pi to underclock). If you have a good heatsink, you more than likely won't need a fan. If you decide on just a heatsink, I'd stay away from the really small ones. Most people report that they do little to help.

When looking for a good heatsink, the more surface area to air that it has, the better it will work (this is why heatsinks typically have fins). I've heard people mention the flirc case here as a solid option. The reason for this is that the upper half of the case is the heatsink, so there is a good amount of surface area exposed to air (at least as far as I can tell that's the reason.

Another thing to consider is ventilation of the case. is the heat getting trapped inside, or is it allowed to leave the case?

Hello! I've successfully connected my Xbox One Controller (model 1708) to my Pi3B via bluetooth, had to disable ERTM too. All buttons (including 'select') working. Using RetroPie 4.2

However, when I tried adding in my second Xbox One Controller (same model), It connected and mapped perfectly. When I tried configuring inputs in RetroArch, both controllers and USB keyboard stopped working.

I had to reboot and remove both controllers' BT connection and re-add the first one, it worked fine. Then tried and hooked up the second Xbox One Controller via USB to no avail. Tried it with a PS3 (via USB) worked fine.

Anybody know what's going on? What am I doing wrong?

You probably just need to edit your controller's configuration file for Reicast/Dreamcast.

@onsmike Yes, it seems a keyboard is needed. That's what "solved" the problem for me when I tried it last night at any rate. It's a bit annoying, but it works on the roms I tried.

Yes it was set to background. I'm guessing it should be "default"? I've set the config to default and rebooted. Will run upstairs to check that the controller still works!
