@Fultos so the d-pad is hats on the 8bitdo here is the config from the 8-bitdo. not sure if you can use h0 up down left right's on the coleco. here is the config from the 8-bitdo

Try a different adapter. That MayFlash didn't work on my two 3-button's, and only only a select amount of my 6-button controllers (maybe a little over half of them).

If you are referring to the fact that you have soldered wires directly to the normally closed terminals of the micro switches inside your arcade buttons then no, you must de-solder and attach them to normally open otherwise they will all appear as permanently pressed. Why are you soldering at all? Crimp for the button contacts and terminal blocks for control block?

I'm a fan of solder over crimping and spade connectors. I don't have the right size spade connectors...the ones I have are too big. Solder works great...if you connect it to the right terminal. LOL. I was so excited I wasn't paying close enough attention for a second.

@demost Have you looked into @Floob and his Attract Mode Retropie image?

Obvs has no bundled rooms, but has Attract Mode as its main front-end rather than ES?

That should give you a more Hyperspin feel, no?

@macothal you need to install the dosbox emulator as it doesn't come pre-installed with the image from the website.

Do that, restart EmulationStation and it'll all be good.

A power supply with a switch on so you can power down the unit after you've done your safe shutdown.

Power the fan from the USB port so that it goes of with the Pi.

@tonydotigr All of the information on the I-PAC applies to the Mini-PAC. So you will have a default setup that is ready to use with MAME. Anything else will require you to reconfigure the controls on a per emulator basis or go and adjust the default configuration in hardware.

Old topic, but it's the one I found via Google after spending some time trying to figure out how to easily launch DOSBox games. Tried to follow both guides, but seemed very manual and finicky so ended up scripting it for my own Pie3 instead - basically it just takes an extracted copy of the game and allows you to select the executable and that will be saved to an init-file. Put it up on github if anyone wants it (https://github.com/tebl/retropie-dosbox-configure).

Ok have the audio working now. Last issue I have is that my usb Retro NES remote is all messed up. ie, b and a buttons are switched, select is starts. This causes issues when I cannot hold select and start to exit game. The remote works fine in other rom games except the NES. I have tried setting up several time in the input game pad set up and all worked fine on that

@SpacedInvader yup. But for others who come searching for an answer i would alter the title from "ports not working properly" to "doom ports not working properly"

I could narrow the problem down a little bit. When the db9_GPIO_RPI driver is not loaded and i try to unload it, I get:

"modprobe: FATAL: Module db9_gpio_rpi is not in kernel"

that makes sense but I tried to avoid that with try/except. Seems it does not work. Any idea why?

I paired the original 1st gen Fire TV game controller and I was surprised it worked so good.

You can add more ports with a USB hub.

Because there are many versions of mame. Each version of mame requires a very specific set of roms to function. Rom files are not universally compatible.
