    Ask the person who you bought it from. No one can help you here until you start with a fresh clean image from this website.

    This.

    They shouldn't have sold it to you - it's illegal for them to do so.

    Setting up Retropie is really easy, and I'm sure people here will hold your hand through the process of you find it intimidating.

    You should understand that people here will be very reluctant to help you until you install the (free) legal version of Retropie.

    In the meantime, maybe you should contact the seller and demand a refund - they charged you money for something that is supposed to be free.

    Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

    Anyways:
    Which emulators are you using to emulate "arcade-classics"?
    Which roms/"arcade-classics" you tested it with?
    Which 8bitdo controller do you use?

    Thanks! I was saying because I heard that kawaks runs better games like King of Fighter that's why I was asking but I change the video mode for Lr-fba-next to Dmt-6 and it works much better I guess that's the One.

    @ImArchimedes said in Rotating screen in emulationstation ONLY:

    @Psynaptik I know this post is ancient but I was curious about the specifics or how you rotated attach mode. I'd read on a different thread that it should be done in the layout.nut file but using:

    fe.layout.base_rotation = Rotation.Right

    I gave this a shot but the screen hasn't rotated.

    Also, did you end up installing the package with your install that already had emulation station installed or did you use one of the prebuilt images like the one from Floob?

    Thanks a bunch!

    You need to type fe.layout.orient=RotateScreen.Left;

    or right depending on monitor

    Also for games to rotate
    Go to opt/retropie/configs/arcade and open retroarch.cfg. Above the #include line you should add...
    video_allow_rotate = "true"
    video_rotation = "1"

    What is important is the information you should include in your post (pi version, where you got Retropie from, what version, etc.).

    MAME is a complex subject. It is a project that has been in development for many years and the supported filesets are updated with each release. You cannot just take a MAME ROM and throw it at a random MAME emulator, it has to match the version of MAME that the emulator is based on. On Retropie there are a number of different MAME packages and each supports a different romset.

    If you want to play a specific game, you need to get the ROM in the right version for the emulator (a list of romset versions for each emulator are in the wiki).

    Ya... it's hit/miss on which games have the issue. MAME so far. Never had issues with NES games yet. Probably another way around it for sure, but, no keyboard hooked up. Usually start/select together exits, sometimes it just ignores the one button completely and keeps adding coins.

    When I make the game console, I plan to add a button to run a shutdown command on the console (not the joystick). Bought a small momentary power switch with a small LED in it, add a resistor and connect to the GPIO's directly. I bought a pack of these and jumper wires as well, for a small guitar amp project with a breadboard, figured sacrifice a few to get the single-pin parts so no soldering to the Pi directly. Though in most cases I'll probably run the shutdown from RetroPie's shutdown screen.

    I have a master power switch going in the rear as well, because still need a way to power off the powered USB hub which will power the joysticks and the cooling fan.

    Media server is running an old Core2Quad I upgraded from. Was running Win7 for years, but decided to change the case, switch to a fanless GPU, and got a free 32GB SSD drive so, decided to try OpenElec. I have 2 x 3TB drives in the computer as well, and a few computers stream from it in the house, all wired with ethernet, no WiFi. Runs fine... and if I ever need to switch out the other HTPCs, I'll probably use a RaspPi. But, for the main server HTPC on my TV, I'll probably always run a full computer.... though next upgrade, I'm building a case and getting a mini/micro ATX. Looks nice right now, but the new case is noisy, flimsy, and interior layout could be better. I can build something much nicer and more silent... probably for less too. Silverstone Grandia GD09, for the price, very disappointed, but after lots of work, got the noise down and installed a Flirc, internal edition not USB, added a small iR window at the front, can't tell it's there. Works pretty good, pretty impressed with OpenElec... again, tried Ubuntu, installed it twice and still wouldn't even update properly because of repository issues and such... unimpressed.

    It's definitely not worth your time to start every game just to see if it works. It won't get you anywhere since many games start fine but then have issues later.

    If you are finding that many games don't work then you may have the wrong ROM set, it needs to match with the version of MAME you are using.

    Assuming you do have the the correct set, you can find the non-working games more easily by running searches using the ROMlister program. For example you can use it to search for Sega S-TV ROMs which will never work on Raspverry PI. Then you can make a batch file to delete those ROMS.

    I'm using the hyperpi MLP 128gb build that just came out btw.

    Unfortunately third party builds are not supported here, especially if they have roms. Support should be requested from the supplier/creator as nobody can guess how it might have been modified or setup. Also, the correct configurations were linked in the other thread you posted in.

    @razinx if you really want to hide the bios files, you can open the zip and add the contents to the zip for the game that requires that bios.

    So the contents of pgm.zip could be added into kov.zip, and you wouldn't have that bios showing up in ES. Now of course this will make your roms bigger and so your set will be bigger.

    @thedeathstar It certainly isn't the point to keep going over the same material again and again no. It may have been better to perhaps say "Please read the arcade documentation." though - which is what herb really meant.

    It's frustrating because people don't even bother to read the information on registering - users are asked to agree to read the sticky topic then, and they don't. We only ask that users try to help themselves first a little - so our time can be used more efficiently.

    Fine tuning the list... know what I need for the most part, just pricing sites and seeing who has stock, but a few small items I gotta get off eBay.

    I was looking at something like this as a power indicator light, hook it up to the GPIO so when pressed it launches a shutdown cmd and when the Pi is shut down, LED goes out.

    Of course, 12V... so can I put something like this in between? Or will the Pi have enough to power the LED just maybe half as bright? This video implies that the 12V LED will work though... has links in description showing the same button on Amazon as well as others... (link below)

    Then at the back, I wanted a power button like this. Then I can use a regular computer cord, and a master power switch to cut power to both the Pi and the USB Hub else the case fan would run non-stop. Plus, bonus fuse, which in a small area like here with constant power issues, may be a good idea.

    80mm fan I think may need to be running off the USB hub, which may be a pain and just worth grabbing a 30mm RaspPi fan that runs off the GPIO instead so when I press the power button on the front of the console, the fan shuts off when the Pi shuts off. Then just leave the power running to the hub which probably won't hurt anything I don't suspect.

    Any feedback? Once sorted, I hope this time tomorrow, I'll have everything on order.
