Bringing back a dead thread. Has anyone had more luck with using a Zero or Zero W for RetroPie? I want to get a second Pi for gaming, the one I have has been turned into an openHAB box, so I was looking for a cheap way to do it. I would have to dl the new RetroPie as the one I have is over a year old and has been sitting on a stored away microSD card for over a year.

I would like to play PSX games if possible, so I might have to get a pi3, but if I can do it on a Zero, that would be great. We will be mostly playing 16-bit and older games.

I also haven't used a Zero for anything yet, just a couple pi3's, so if there are any other issues with them, please let me know.

yes you can. Go to the retro pie menu, then configuration editor. from there go to advanced configuration, configure libretro options, then psx/retroarch.cfg. From there look for game_specific_options and set to true. Back out and when you go to the options where you set analog or not, there will be a new option on top to save that config for that one game. So you can set the games that need standard and save just that config for them or visa versa

i wasn't using an old version of retropie though. in fact it was a fresh install of 4.1. i even updated all installed packages via the retropie setup.

maybe they changed it back?

@emilholm Sounds like the adapter or controller is bad if there is nothing on JSTEST. That means that the OS isn't seeing the controller.

@Jofo well, being that I now have several versions of the PSX bus reader, I can talk about my results with all versions.

The original version of the driver, even with the Select button filtered, definitely had sporadic issues with input glitches. My updated version was nearly perfect after filtering the Select button. I'm pretty sure the Acknowledgement line implementation is what did it. I'm pretty confident in that one.

However, the Arduino reader is 100% perfect. So far I've needed no filtering, it all just works. I need to work on the CPU usage of the driver though, still, but for what it's worth, it should work on the Pi. Just plug the Arduino in with USB.

@Vlad Yes Enhanced Resolution shouldn't be used for 2D sprite games.

@mrbwa1 I know, but when you turn the resolution down, people claim it works. I'll use a display with a very low resolution so I'm fine with turning the game's resolution down. But thanks anyway :)

@singsonn the path in the cue sheet isnt started with something like "c:/../.../gamename.bin"? You have to remove all that info if it does. I had to fix tons of pcengine and sega cd games because of this. This might not be your problem but i havent seen your cue sheet.

@Ikyrus You could use something like jslisten to monitor for inputs, and invoke a script to switch config files.

I think i have this figured out. It was a zip file extraction issue. I extracted the files again and it is working. Thanks for the assistance.
