      @cacotigon
Top time is something like that, Kirby Samurai is a minigame, randomly the screen flashes: !!! and you press a button as fast as you can to respond. So long as you aren't cheating, and you give yourself enough chances, and you're not impaired, if you can't beat your top score; then you have a good personal idea of the input lag.
So you get (input lag)+(legitimate human factor)=(top time)
My best time on a real nintendo was 8,11 average, 13-8,11 = "5,2" the input lag and time measurements, might be per frame, I dont know, 5,2x .06 = 300,120ms { + runahead 1 frame } = 360,180ms. You can divide that result by two because we are experiencing an input and an output lag: ~90ms does that sound about right?

Run-Ahead didn't work as well in kirby-superstar, more framedrops, I forgot what I did to get it up to speed, maybe it was a The second run-ahead, but it kind of seemed contradictory, so I thought it was a fluke but I did get a higher score.

Run-ahead on SMW I thought it felt a lot better when I got it up to speed, v-sync needed to be on or else scrolling looked terrible in one trial. I overclocked and I adjusted the audio latency, and used different cores but I wasn't compiling my test results so I don't know.

I'm back at it again though, now that I've stabilized my overclock. I may just browse the web forums and raspberry pi stuff for a while.

EDIT: Oh yeah! you can read my edit history on my previous posts, I tried to compile as much of it as I could but it is pretty much just as disorganized and I was embarrassed as I can just go on and on as I don't know what I'm doing.
EDIT2: Actually I can't figure out how to read edit history.

@TheSausageKing after you map the keyboard are you pressing the button you mapped as "a" to ok the configuration? Once you do it, it can take 20 secs or so sometimes for the configuration to take effect.

Thanks for the reply! I installed Retroarch on my phone to see a bit of what you mean. Fewer shaders are available and the same shaders I use on my PC look different thanks to the phone's much higher PPI, and/or maybe some other factors. I suppose this would mainly apply to people playing on Windows or Linux on a 1080 - 4k screen. If you feel this question is of no use here, feel free to remove it.

@thestarglider said in SNES controller ghosting on Retropie/Kodi etc... An interesting find...:

It would be interesting to know if anyone else had tried an alternative power source to their Pi when they've had issues with ghosting, because in all the threads I have read, I don't remember anyone else bringing it up.

      i kinda did :) https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/8187/gamepads-making-involuntary-movements-in-emulation-station

the issue is power interference so it figures that changes to power supply or connection can influence it. however it won't fix it for everyone.

Yeah, that is the page where I read about the workarounds :) I was a bit unsure if there were other differences to think about, but it sounds like it is safe to go for a multiplayer adapter. Thanks for the info.

@mitu said in Noob questions about multiple controllers and USB boards:

It's in the get started section - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Controller-Configuration/. ES tries to cover for all possible buttons and joysticks present on a PS or Xbox controller. There's also a video linked which shows this process.

I've seen that, and I guess I'm not fully grasping how it's going to behave because that only shows "one controller detected". I assume that "one detected" is because one USB is device is plugged in in that example, and it's offering the options which go with that controller (SNES, Xbox 360, PS3, etc.) being plugged in. It doesn't explain how the menu will look when I have two separate USB boards and possibly a third (i-pac2 with ball and spinner), and what will be presented as options for each. I assume with my custom-built cabinet, I will get some sort of "generic controller" detected, so I am wondering what options it will give me. It also isn't clear where/when/if the hotkey action options appear - it lists the defaults at the bottom but not in the format of the stuff above. Are the hotkey action items listed in order to be assigned, or do they default as indicated and you can only change them by going into the config menu?

Also, one post I saw seemed to indicate that if you reassign a hotkey action to a single button on your cabinet (rather than leaving it as "hotkey + (button or joystick direction)", then all the other hotkey actions must be assigned a single button and can't remain as a two-press action. Is that correct?

Each console has its own gamepad - see this page for a detailed overview. The main variation is within the Arcade games, where it really depends on the game - but that's not really my area of expertise. You can look up various builds posted on the forum for real cabinets and their setup and others might chime in and give you advice.

Yeah, I've read various threads opining on button arrangement, but my question is really a derivative of the above questions; I'm less worried about arranging the buttons for my gameplay and more concerned about what other buttons I should have on my cabinet in order to make it easy for my little kids and for visitors to play.

I don't suppose there would need to be much difference. Just add a debounce circuit to the Cherry microswitch in a standard coin mech and wire the START button to it. Perhaps hack the rom to say INSERT COIN instead of PRESS START (same number of letters). The only downside is your game would start as soon as you drop a coin, and additional coins would be ignored. Ideally a counter circuit and LED display on the panel would track coin drops and presses of the panel mounted START button. In this case, the ROM would need no mods at all, any single player game that launches with the START button could be put into coin-op service.

There is no 'SNES RGUI', the RGUI is the same for all libretro cores. Please read the page about the RetroArch configuration and how it works. You can configure your RetroPad (virtual RetroArch gamepad) per core as you wish, without influencing how RGUI interprets the buttons used to operate it (A/B/L/R).

The RetroPie-setup script updated today and now I can't update lr-snes9x from source with the PGO changes. Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: Found the problem. So it seems like there's a limit to how many games you can profile, otherwise it will crap out during compiling the optimized core. I probably profiled 15-20 games, so I think it's better off to just go with 5-10.

Just a heads up to anyone hoping to use this hack when you get round to patching it use the XKAS 0.6 from smwcentral linked in the patches readme and not the one from romhacking was having issues with my initial patch having garbled graphics due to opcode erros turns out the smwcentral one is an unnofficial fixed version which corrects this

thought id give folks a heads up as this is a fantastic hack

@kamban Can you try to remap one of your controller from RetroArch - does Select + X bring up the RetroArch Gui ?

Yes, GUI shows up. I checked the controls and see
      Auto: 8 (N/A), (Key:rs... Select

as well as the other mapped keys. Also tried another SNES rom, same here. I really have no idea why the select is not working...
