      @lesk Deopending on the emulator and version I think, as it is a relative recent feature. You may need to update RetroPie. There are entries in the emulator menu for this feature: SETTINGS > LATENCY. I looked up in Snes9x 1.56.2, Nestopia 1.50-WIP and MAME 2003 (0.78).
      The Raspberry Pi 3 is too weak and it would be extremly slow and painful (as far as I know). Which emulator and version do you want use this for? Try the "lr-" versions.

      I have modified the values in RetroPie and in Raspbian. Thank you. It's fixed. I just hope this doesn't have a significant impact on other activities on the Pi sucj as simple web browsing.

      I finally used the retroarch menu (Select+X) and remapped the controls here. It works fine.
      I think that the problem was the special syntax for Vectrex.

      Is this really the easiest way to change the name of controllers? Following the steps listed in xboxdv instructions seem like overkill and over my head frankly.

      I have two 8bitdo controllers, SN30 and a DIY mod PS1 controller and they have the same name unfortunately, szmy-power Ltd. Joypad.

      @IanDaemon i found that when I'm in game and I bring up the retroarch menu, I can't move anything in the UI. The cursor will not move with keyboard or controller. I'm stuck there until I hard reset the pi because I have no input. I thought about a reinstall but I spent a lot of time scraping and setting up and I'd hate to have to do it all again.

      I seem to have fixed this. I found a page (here) with a few extra instructions on suppressing various messages. I haven't implemented them all but it seems the one or two I have added have done the trick! I'd already added one or two of these as per the excellent Retropie docs, but the extra bits here seem to have done the trick. Been mashing about the menu for a couple of hours, and rebooted several times and so far it has not returned.

      Thanks for your help. Thrilled to get it working so nice! :-)

      @theretroprince I solved the problem of Hotkeys not saving. All I had to do was cp the retroarch.cfg from configs/all to configs/snes. It looks like there was a problem individual core configs.

      @SpudsMcToole Oh, if it helps - when I get the MESS copyright splash screens and it says "Type OK or move joystick left then right to confirm", the joystick is recognised and works but the keyboard doesn't. (The keyboard works fine with other emulators.)

      Have you tried to get into RA's input controls and select P3's controller as your 2nd controller ? Or add an override for the game (see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#custom-retroarch-override-examples) with

      input_player1_joypad_index = 0 input_player3_joypad_index = 1

      @larsks I don't use mame4all, so I can't say for sure about the axis, hopefully someone else will be able to.

      What might help is binding the arrow keys to input control in mame4all. Technically, if your up/down/left/right is bound to dpad in emulation station, it should also translate dpad input to arrow keys. This is how you are able to navigate the menus like retropie-setup with a controller. You might need to run joy2key by hand before launching mame4all. Not sure.

      @pierouge in which Mode did you connect your 8biDo? Switch, Android, Mac or Win?
      I just learned that this is an important point and after a change (Android. Start+B) my Pads work perfect.

      @zeotherm said in Unable to launch RGUI for core input remapping in a certain game:

      One day I may look into getting a better ROM set.

      It's not that you really need a "better" ROM set, it's that you need the specific ROM set intended for the emulator that you're using. pifba might get you up and running in this one case and even a few more out of sheer coincidence, but with all the games that these arcade emulators support, you're going to run into incompatibilities pretty often without coordinating the ROM set versions to the right emulation software.

      maybe there is a more pratical solution.

      is possible to set a combo of joystick buttons for opening the RGUI?

      I was trying putting this:
      input_menu_toggle = "L2+R2+L1+R1"

      but apparently is not working
