    @mfreshwater

    Thanks for your response.

    You're welcome

    And I just read your second link and that looks like exactly what I need to know. I hope that all the buttons correlate with the games like they should but that helps a ton! I will give those a shot tonight.

    Also there are some Video Tutorials further down on that same document that might be of some help as well.

    You can see which emulator you are using from the Runcommand screen (which is what pops up for a couple seconds when you first launch a game). If you have more than one emulator for a system install, you can change the emulator from the Runcommand. Here are the documents about Runcommand:

    @simmy Hello i too have problem with 3H arcade 2Players controller. up and left not working. One think i can manage is to have 2 players configured. You need to insert at the end quirks line in /boot/cmdline.txt file. :

    usbhid.quirks=0x16c0:0x05e0:0x040

    This entry enable 2 players in retropie.
    But unfortunatelly left and up is not working at all.
    In recalbox and windows everything works ok
    I have found some info in this thread :
    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4361/20-pin-xin-mo-wiring-diagram-set-up/7
    Maybe this is a solution.
    I cannot test it right now. Can someone test if changing pins can help ? Is P1 & P2 sides of the board Pin 2 and 4 are dead. ?
    Any help ?

    @Spl1ff Thanks for the kind words. Admin buttons are extremely handy. As you probably noticed, I have five, which is a lot I know. One is for EXIT, two is for PAUSE, three and four are for volume control, and five is power button around the back of the case. Not everyone agrees with this, but I would never build an arcade panel without some obvious way for users to exit at minimum. Pause is a bonus, as is volume.

    ive just managed to get this working by half following what you did and adding in some bits.
    ok
    1)install drivers in the same way you did, but after configure,itll do it for 2 snes pads just accept that for now,
    2 ) add your db9_gpio_rpi to modules as you did ( -the map)
    3) added a db9.conf (db9_gpio_rpi map=4,0)file to modprobe.d/ folder

    that was it

    im pretty new to this so hop that does it for you as well ?

    @edmaul69
    So there are "stand alone" emulators (like dosbox) and libretro emulators. The feature of overlays only come with the libretro ones, I guess.

    I found in git a libretro-dosbox (unfortunately I was not able to compile it out of the box on my pi...)
    https://github.com/libretro/dosbox-libretro

    I will try again...

    @zden Have you tried lowering the audio sample rate in the RetroArch GUI? Do this then restart ES.

    Buzz, you were right mate. Lowered the clock speed from 1400 to 1200 and lr-mame2014 installed. Trying 2016 now as well, not expecting any issue.
    I didn't have any issues running games at 1400, but it must have been a bit to high to be perfectly stable for compilation.

    Thanks again mate.

    I dont know much about diagnostics or what is technically considered "free" I suppose people define it differently.

    It seems there is no shortage of raspberry pi dashboard projects:

    @Riverstorm you can download all the games in pbp form. The compression alone is worth them being in the .pbp format. Saves a lot of space.

    @viking.hellfire CD to /RetroPie-Setup then run the script with "sudo ./retropie_setup.sh" that should fix your issue getting retropie setup to work cheer

    I started off with a Pi Zero and didn't think about it once i got a Pi 3. My sound didn't work because i was using the Pi Zero Retropie. It worked perfectly once I installed the correct Retropie. Good luck!

    I FTP into the pi then take out all the ROMs and saves whenever I have to reimage for whatever reason, which is more common then it should be. If you have to reimage it because of your pesky ferrets, I would do that first. There are plenty of great guides just a google away.

    @Acidbased said in Save state failed:

    So I can't figure out how to get my save state to work. I have the buttons configured but when attempting it always says failed

    You do realize that you need to set up the save folders manually right? If you didn't set up the folder RPi doesn't know from which directory to load them from.

    You can do this very quick via SMB. If you;re on windows open the following file:

    \retropie\configs\all\retroarch.cfg

    The first two things you'll see are:

    . Save all save files (*.srm) to this directory. This includes related files like .bsv, .rtc, .psrm, etc ...
    . This will be overridden by explicit command line options.
    savefile_directory = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/SAVE/SAVE_FILES/"

    . Save all save states (*.state) to this directory.
    . This will be overridden by explicit command line options.
    savestate_directory = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/SAVE/SAVE_STATE/"

    In my example you see that I already added the paths of the folders. Just use the same paths as I did and save the file.

    Now we need to make the folders, open up the following directory:

    \retropie\roms

    Create one folder and name it SAVE. Open up the SAVE folder and create two new folders. Name one SAVE_FILES and the other SAVE_STATE.

    So now you have one folder (SAVE) which includes two folders SAVE_FILES and SAVE_STATES. Keep in mind everything is case sensitive.
