@buzz oh wow I would never have considered the multi tap options as they've never affected it before! That worked better than expected, now I've got analog on psx that I've never ever been able to get working. Thanks for your help!

@mitu used all the resolutions but they had the same issue. I fixed it by making the bars smaller and modifying some code. Here is what i did. Reference if someone comes with same problem.

First here the two smaller images. https://imgur.com/a/BbOfzr7
    I named them gamelist_outline_smaller.png and gamelist_background_smaller.png

Uploaded this files to my pi on /etc/emulationstation/themes/snes-mini/art
then modified the setup xml with

    sudo nano /etc/emulationstation/themes/snes-mini/layouts/setup.xml

replaced both paths with the new images like this example

    <image name="gamelist_background" extra="true"> <path>./../art/gamelist_background_smaller.png</path>

since my resolution is using 4x3 i went and

    sudo nano /etc/emulationstation/themes/snes-mini/layouts/4x3setup.xml

i replaced gamelist outline so it alignscorrectly, with this code

    <image name="gamelist_outline" extra="true"> <origin>0.5 0.5</origin> <pos>0.7055555555555556 0.5</pos>

    and done

Hi @w0nderw0rm , did @mitu ‘s solution allowed you to use just the Xbox One controller, or the solution also allows you to use the Nimbus Steelseries?

I just started researching which controller to order that would work best for RetroPie AND Apple Arcade on iPhone, and it looks like the Steelseries Nimbus+ is a great controller (but I’m not sure it works with RetroPie).

Is there a better controller I should consider?
    Maybe the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ ?

    @mitu
    Thanks. That did the trick!

I hadn't thought of configuring the trackball to actually be the spinner.

I'm going to lock this topic, since clearly it's no longer relevant, given the other set of Audio issues appearing after the Dec. 2020 updates in Raspberry Pi OS.

@mitu Thanks. I found out that I can record N64 using the retroarch menu and setting Use GPU Recording to on (although it is extremely choppy and unplayable). Does someone know what is the ffmpeg option equivalent to the retroarch Use GPU Recording to put in the custom recordconfig file? I tried hwaccel = auto but it does not seem to work.

  • Moving SD card from RPI3 to RPI3 model B

@lilejustin i expect your old pi3 was a model b. do you mean you now have the pi 3 model b+? that could require a firmware upgrade that your old image may not have had. i suggest you start again: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/

you could try and harvest the old games and settings from your old sd card via an sd card reader and an OS that can read the ext4 partition, but IMO this is ultimately more trouble than just starting over.

@mitu i used the configuration provided earlier in this conversation, the one provided by @Amishgamer .

@YFZdude thanks for the feedback, i will try to uninstall those drivers then and see if that helps

    EDIT

now i completely messed it up i think...

    EDIT 2

Actually, after it first crashed to the console, the controller now seems to work fine

And @Amishgamer 's config also works! Oh my god, thank you so much guys, you are awesoem!

@sugo98 I ran into this same issue. After 3 hours of head-banging, I managed to solve this, thanks to your post that gave me a hint: 5th joystick.

For some reason, this game wants the Slot 2 to be plugged in. So it actually requires 5 players, the 5th one being in fact the Player 2. So you just need to tell RetroArch that Port 5 is controlled by the same gamepad as Port 4. Make sure this 5th player is set to a PlayStation controller or analog pad and it works.

This seems to be the same behaviour among all KCET football games. And maybe Track 'n field games too?

    I hope it'll help you.

@lootchamoneytho Please don't bump old topics.
The default retroarch.cfg created by RetroPie can be found int the same folder (/opt/retropie/configs/all), it's named retroarch.cfg.rp-dist.

@lootchamoneytho if you are talking 4 player arcade games, like TMNT or the simpsons, etc, there are 2 player versions of most these games that allow you to select your character in game. Just note that those versions are limited to 2 players.

I don't know any settings to make it start in Game Focus mode by default - not sure it is possible.

EDIT: you can install the standalone atari800 emulator and use the runcommand launch menu to use it for text adventure games.

@mitu i figured it out/ remembered for the slow speed issue

for anyone with the Nespi4 enclosures you gotta add
    usb-storage.quirks=152d:0562:u

to the /boot/cmdline.txt file adding it at the beginning..

so instead of 3 min 30 seconds to load up the configuration files before it shows up the retropie screen.. now it only takes 28 seconds to sit at the loading configuaration

and now i get 80meg/s instead of the 5meg/s

gonna write steps in a text file the procedure so i can remember next time the orders and what to add if i format or build another one of thess
