      This actually helped:

      1 year ago
      OK I figured it out. I had to set the hotkeys manually rather than rely on the autoconfig.
      For anyone else out there with this issue, what you need to do is open the RetroPie menu. Open RetroArch.
      Go to Settings>Input>Input Hotkey Binds.
      Go down to Quit RetroArch, and set that to your Start button.
      Next go down to Enable hotkeys, and set that to your Select button.
      Go back up to the Main Menu within RetroArch.
      Open Configurations.
      Save Current Config.
      Back out and exit RetroArch.
      You're good to go now for most emulators.

      Thanks for you answer!

      I didn't know about the different emulators but I was using Mupen64plus which has his own config...
      I tried lr-mupen64plus but the cinematics appears black sometimes and the game crashed a few times...

      So a (re)switch on Mupen64plus.

      Just in case someone has the same issue I drop here the configuration issue I had:
      In the config file (/opt/retropie/configs/from_retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg) I had this line:

      # Joystick event string for stopping the emulator Joy Mapping Stop = "J1B10/B9"

      The combination B10 (hotkeys) and B9 (start) seems to be ok for me BUT my controller was J0 not J1. It fix the "stop emulator" command. Now I have to check for the load/save state commands.

      Thanks again for you answer. It really helped me :-)

      @de_jean125 Something like that, yes. :)

      My first guess was that it was for your kid(s), by the way.

      You could even let it get nastier … "Stop or I'll hack into your bank account and send all of your money to homes for retired game programmers!"

      @alain said in Keyboard hotkey setting gets overwritten when using keyboard and controller as the same player:

      e the dedicated exit button to leave the game.
      The hotkey button from the controller player one is expected to be pressed and

      there is no need do disable hotkeys at all just use game focus mode

      There is no 'SNES RGUI', the RGUI is the same for all libretro cores. Please read the page about the RetroArch configuration and how it works. You can configure your RetroPad (virtual RetroArch gamepad) per core as you wish, without influencing how RGUI interprets the buttons used to operate it (A/B/L/R).

      You can customize your key/button bindings as you like - globally, per-system or per-game. Look into the RetroArch controller configuration docs.

      Pi Model or other hardware: (3b)
      Power Supply used: (The Recommended One)
      RetroPie Version Used (retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3)
      Built From: (The Original Image)
      USB Devices connected: Keyboard Only
      Controller used: IPAC 2 Controller In Keyboard Mode
      Error messages received: N/A
      Emulator: (Not Working In Any)

      The joypads folder is empty, I`m not using a controller I am using a keyboard and an IPAC 2 controller in keyboard mode. IPAC is running latest firmware.

      I have not intentionally disabled the menu toggle, I have accessed RetroArch and changed the Enable Hotkey and that seems to work, I have also specified the Menu Toggle which I`m assuming is to launch RetroArch from within the game?

      Brill, thanks very much!

      So I removed the following lines from /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/autoconfig/Logitech Gamepad F710.cfg:

      input_load_state_btn = "4" input_exit_emulator_btn = "7" input_save_state_btn = "5" input_state_slot_increase_btn = "h0right" input_state_slot_decrease_btn = "h0left" input_reset_btn = "0" input_enable_hotkey_btn = "8"

      and then made sure that that the next line was correctly mapped to my Logitech button (in my case 8):

      input_menu_toggle_btn = "8"

      A quick test suggests that it's working great :)

      @dojobaggins OK, so you might have had an older release where there was no 'Hotkey' button present in the input configuration dialog and Start + Select was automatically set. This is what you can do

      configure you controller again in Emulationstation when you get the Hotkey selection, just long press the A button to skip it, then save the configuration (press A). there will be a prompt asking you if you want to use the Select button as a Hotkey, since you didn't assign a button to it. Choose yes here.
      Now the Hotkey will be mapped to Select and you'll be able to use the same exit shortcut as before.

      @ooskay I am away from my setup, and I don't even know where a config lives for GPIOnext. You might ask questions about GPIOnext on the github repo. The developer has been very friendly and helpful users in the past.

      If you want to go the stripped down route, you can find examples of raw python scripts that setup GPIO pins for input all over the internet. In my opinion, the key to making a script successful is to define OS commands as a function that gets called when the GPIO pin is triggered using EDGE detection method. The script ends in a Pause loop or a while loop so it never terminates.

      Then, you just need to launch the scrip at startup. Sorry to be so abstract about it, but it was definitely a learning process and everyone has a different config than you.

      @driagonv

      I'm afraid not at the moment and unfortunately I don't think that is bound to change anytime soon. The DraStic team has had a bit of hard luck, losing key members and even a certain amount of their source code. Right now, the main developer has the all-to-common problem of not having enough time to work on the project. However, there is talk of the existing source being opened up, at which point you'd likely see a lot of revitalized interest and advancement. Perhaps even a libretro core.

      One thing to note, it's not labelled "enable hotkeys" I think it was just "hotkeys" or something, anyway I never would have figured this out without this post, thanks again
