      @zfa said in Retropie Bezel Project & lr-mame2003 cfg does not persist after update?:

      I guess the real fix is to get The Bezel Project guys to use the names as per the Retroarch guys, or make sure they include symlinks where there are name changes across versions of a core. If this doesn't work then update your emus again in case you have a version reporting itself as being mame2003 as per @Virtualman post.

      This name change/folder change came from RetroArch leadership rather than the mame2003 core. The code logic for this is kind of obscure but it has to do with enabling netplay between a broader range of different systems.

      Based on the RA rationale for making the change I expect it will be permanent.

      It may have changed something because when I try to plug in the keyboard after starting the game with it unplugged, the keyboard doesn't do anything.

      @dan18774 Hm, maybe your TV has a auto-close timeout that turns off the screen (?). Try to see if using the Game Mode will make the problem disappear. Or you can try changing nothing and when the 'freeze' occurs just turn off/on the TV.

      I think I worked it out. A year or so ago when I originally set up my retropie I was focussing on PSX emulation, and in the "autoconfig" controller mappings I must have force mapped this:

      input_up_axis = "-1" input_down_axis = "+1" input_left_axis = "-0" input_right_axis = "+0"

      Removing these seems to have done the trick

      yea the default isint a big deal it can be changed. It would be nice for me as well if the default was classic but someone else who only plays st2 may have a differing opinion. Sticks and stones at the end of the day :)

      @menace23 are you going to the retropie setup script, manage packages, optional, reicast, configure/tools menu then input configuration? That’s the way I did it and it worked.

      @theretroprince I solved the problem of Hotkeys not saving. All I had to do was cp the retroarch.cfg from configs/all to configs/snes. It looks like there was a problem individual core configs.

      ?

      I set my video mode, for standard mupen64plus, here.

      /opt/retropie/configs/n64

      Open mupen64plus.cfg, scroll down to ...

      [Video-General]

      Fullscreen = True
      ScreenWidth = 320
      ScreenHeight = 240
      VerticalSync = False
      AspectRatio = True

      That is what I use for 240p on a CRT. On a LCD, change the screen size to whatever you want it to be. This works for all N64 games.

      @udb23 Thanks for sharing the original cardboard bezel scan and the bezels that you created based on it. I wanted something slightly different to the bezel that you shared already, and came up with this:
      asteroid-w-overhang-example.jpg

      I'm using lr-mame2003-plus, and wanted an "integer resolution" bezel to support this.

      I found that lr-mame2003-plus has better resolution core options than fbneo in my quick comparison. Two resolutions that the core offers that work well for me are 640x480 (with 2x integer scaling in retroarch) and 1280x960 (with the beam width = 2 set as a core option).

      If anyone is interested I've put my bezel attempts here: https://github.com/busywait/retroboxes/tree/main/overlay/Asteroids

      There does seem to be a little problem with letterboxing (black bars) at the top and bottom. Does anyone have any idea why lr-mame2003-plus doesn't fill the whole 960 height with the game? I ended up setting a custom resolution of 1280x1060 in the game.zip.cfg that does fill the space.

      @paradoxgbb thanks for reporting back verbatim. Did I get it right that the retropie provided binary does work well? (I assume yes, as the binary [1] relates to the lr-scummvm git from 2021-12-27, it runs ScummVM 2.1.1 IIRC)

      [1] https://files.retropie.org.uk/binaries/buster/rpi4/kms/libretrocores/lr-scummvm.tar.gz

      The diablodiab hit-and-miss results leave me somewhat unsatisfied, but I can not put research at this atm. FTR: I am on RA 1.9.7, GCC 8.3 and for me (as stated earlier) the build of 9703372cc8 runs fine on a RetroPie 4.7.19/Rpi4.

      If it may be of help for anyone else i found a solution, even though it's not optimal. If i edit the game override file that was created and add:

      input_overlay_enable = "true"

      then the overlay is displayed. So, now i need to manually edit all the config files that should have an overlay which is not optimal but atleast it works. What i don't understand is why RetroArch don't add this line by itself when i save a game override with the overlay option turned on.

      You can find more information about this at:
      https://docs.libretro.com/guides/libretro-overlays/

      When everybody else activate overlays and save, do you get the input_overlay_enabled added automatically?
