@edmaul69 You can. There are really some rom sharing pages, mentioning clearly those eboots are from official sony psn store. They decrypt it with tools.

Another thing is, you are unable to revert back those files to bin/cue/iso files. They are generated from pkg files downloaded raw from sony psn.

@DarioRomero said in Hoto: use Gameshark cheats for the PSX:

I followed the instructions closely but when I bring up the emulator menu theres no directory called Extra Stuff. What am I missing or how can I fix this?

Are you sure you are using pcsx-rearmed and not lr-pcsx-rearmed? That last one is the default if I'm not mistaken. In pcsx-rearmed the menu opens when I press Escape on a keyboard. If it doesn't then you might be using the LibRetro version of PCSX (i.e. the mentioned lr-pcsx-rearmed). Confusing, isn't it?

      Good luck! :)

@mitu I've already reinstalled retropie like 4 times and I swear, every time I touch the controls and attempt to enable the analog stick on FF7, the controls just break forever. Even if I don't save anything. It's so incredibly weird.

I've reinstalled for the fourth time and it's working (without analog) on FF7, so I'm just going to not even touch the settings. I really don't want to redo my RetroPie image anymore.

I'm just honestly baffled I'm the only person that's ever had this problem with FF7 on RetroPie.

Yea that did the trick, thanks. But now it states error about gamelist.xml parsing, the file is missing. I need to investigate more about it.

Edit: Got it fixed, just deleted the gamelist.xml from the EmulationStation folder and it recreated new one.

      Update:

I found these instructions and tested them:

      link text

What I did for USB memory stick was to input these settings to be used (settings for regular HDD might be different):

      sudo hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda sudo hdparm -S 0 /dev/sda

I first tested them for 30 mins in Driver 2 and then for about 20 mins in Gran Turismo 2 and then again with Driver 2 for 5 minutes. With the Driver 2, I didn't encounter a single freeze in 30 mins. Then I went for the GT2. There I withnessed 3-4 freezes overall. Then I went back to the Driver 2, because I started to think, that maybe heat or something triggers the freezing issue. But on the second tryout with Driver 2, no freezes at all.

So now I'm wondering, that could it be about the emulator software or does the game have differences in data loading methods. Needs to be further investigated and someone else could try with that guide I linked.

Update: I now discovered, that there is audio cuts during the GT2 Arcade Disc's demo, that starts rolling after a while when sitting on the main menu. Maybe the issue could be related to that as well, sync problems you know.

Bump, adding /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg file to the first post ... I don't see anything wrong with it. Yet neither controller or keyboard work with lr-cores.
EDIT : managed to get back controls on lr-cores by deleting /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads , disabling , enabling xboxdrv, remapping the controllers and lots of reboot

On another note, no progress on getting enhanced resolution and analog support with pcsx-rearmed :/

@boredgamelad note that the current retropie image/binary updates won't neccesarily include that fix, but yeah from source definitely will. i think if you still get the issue after a source update it might be worth logging an issue here: https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/issues

i'll try and recreate it soon also!

I have experienced the same issue in RetroPie 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3: the the *.srm file gets created when doing an in-game save, but the game can't seem to find the save file when you go to load your saved progress. I have tried various BIOS files, unfortunately without success.

But it runs great on 3 of my other x86 (x64, actually) systems. Just not on this one with this particular video card driver. If you don't mind my asking, how does lr-beetle measure up to pcsx?

it's just a fairly old emulator that does a good job of running games at native resolution on low-power arm devices, but if you have a powerful PC then beetle is a better choice as it has loads more features (high resolution, perspective correction, etc), and is constantly updated.

@BuZz Thank you Buzz. I actually just figured it out by gaining access to Retroarch's quick menu using the in-game hotkey, then fiddling around in there till I found something mentioning Bios.

But anyway, everything works now, except for reicast. But thank you all the same.

I've tried both analog and digital in these games. Rayman is an example of a game that requires digital control, which works fine. These 2 games don't seem to respond either way.

@vbs I see what you are saying. Easy and simple instructions. Only thing is for me is I have the "suikoden.bin" and "Suikoden.cue" but, there is no "suikoden.srm" anywhere on my PC. So how do I create those files or even locate them in retroarch? I been trying to figure something out but I am out of ideas. I am using Retroarch version 1.8.1 with the "PCSX ReARMed" and I also have the "Enable Second Memory Card (Shared) toggled on. Still nothing. What am I missing? I know this is a reply that's years from the OP but if you see this or anyone else does the help would be greatly appreciated
