@dankcushions yes! I did the change when I found this new emulator was ported to libretro. At the end I found that the main problem in my lr-genesis-plus-gx performance is the bilinear filter. If I turn it off it's working 58-60 fps with very good sound quality. So as I see it maybe I overloaded my raspberry pi 3B too much, if I'm correct is definitely something to have in mind if you dont have a rpi3B+ or rpi4. SegaCD is working fine too now!

@nemo93 Technically neither have I. It runs as a CD32 game if you rename the .CUE file. I've been running it like this for a while but 3.3 (or maybe an earlier version) seems to have broken it,

I might be that. I used that specific version of mame because I already had some roms from the appropiate romset.

@djmoss haha. Happens to us all - I often leave files lying around called username@server when I fail to use scpcorrectly (missing : on the end).

Finding the root folder in /etc is a nice festive surprise :-)

try mupen64plus-gliden64. it should be the best performance and compatibility in general, but be warned that it's quite normal for n64 to exhibit poor performance on pi4, but several games can perform pretty well.

I tried uncommenting and changing the hdmi_group and hdmi_mode options in the config.txt, but no audio improvement.....just poor video!

from what to what? i suggest a 1080p60 mode in your config.txt (please provide copies of all configs you edit.). any further lowering of resolution you need to do can be done via the runcommand, although personally i leave everything at 1080p.

please also provide /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg

Yup, I just set up a clean RetroPie 4.7.1 card, and the defaults give full 4:3 for Snes.

Not for Megadrive though: for the lr_genesis_plus_gx default configuration the game image is not quite 4:3 - skinny black bars at left and right. The default config probably wants aspect_ratio_index=0 (for 4:3). Or a little overscan?

i wouldn't want to make assumptions. it could be true to the real hardware. you'd have to drill into the core options and/or the code, but since we use 'core provided' as our default, and generally use default core options, the default aspect ratio is at the discretion of the core developer, so it's typically intentional.

Did you reboot after changing the PulseAudio audio settings ? Try rebooting and checking again with commands I posted earlier. If it's not working, try manually disabling PulseAudio by running

I have done this:

1-From setup script I tried to disable pulse audio (it was already disable)
2-I tried to enable it—>rebooting—>Still disabled (so from setup script it is disabled and there is no way to enable it)
3-Reboot and ran the game-> no audio
3- I ran this

aplay -L | grep -i pulse ps -ef | grep pulseaudio

And still got the same output
4-reboot
5-I ran this

systemctl --user mask pulseaudio.socket

6-I ran the game and...IT WORKS WITH AUDIO! :D :D
7- Rebooted and run the game again, it keeps the settings. Tried also with other emulators (NES) and the games have audio.

UPDATE: playing around I made the analog work. I change some setting in the configuration of the emulator. Now everything works fine

I'm not sure. Wouldn't I have done that when I got the first Playstation controller working?
I ask because I don't really know. I followed a YouTube video directions to get the first dog-chewed controller working (not really knowing in detail what I was doing). One dog-chewed Playstation controller does work with RetroPie now.
I can see the other controller in the "Registered Devices" (both controllers, at the same time actually). I just can't switch between them, or better yet - get them both working at the same time.

-- But -- I did get it working just now.

I think the controller itself was locked up. I pressed the reset button on the bottom of the controller and it now works. In fact, they both now work at the same time. This is awesome!!

The hotkey setting for your controller is part of your joypad autoconfiguration. You can redo that from the main EmulationStation menu: Settings > Configure Input

I press the "Start" button on my controller to get the menu - you can see a picture of it in this page: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/EmulationStation/

Press all of the buttons on your controller when prompted, and then the last question is which of the buttons do you want to be the Hotkey enable button. "Select" is a typical choice :)

That didn't work when I typed what you put. It kept saying no directory etc.

Anyways I deleted the duplicate games.. Put the correct paths in and did the games again and now only one appears in emulation list and it works great.

Thank you so much for sharing this solution! This was an easy fix and works for me too.

Once you've set the option in RetroArch's menu (the Options submenu), it should be saved automatically and apply to all games.
If it's not, then you either have overrides (core options) set for that game or there's an issue with the core options file (/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg is not writeable by your user ?).
